farm-fresh vs wild-canned. any salmon opinions?

pros, cons? does canned taste ok? i would instinctively think fresh is always best, but maybe i underestimate the evils of farmed salmon (agh, axel must have me thinking in terms of good/evil...)
side note on moral support-
i have indeed purchased my first can of sardines, but i have not yet gotten up the courage to eat them. i hated fish for years. i like fresh fish now, except i'm still not crazy about any tuna... will the sardines be a huge taste leap or 'ok'?
