Important point about the necessity of breakfast

Maggie, you rock. Good point about breakfast.
All my life I poo-pooed people who said that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day". I used to eat diametrically opposed to how an O should eat. I believe that the diet and lifestyle I lived had my system so upside-down that it explains why the very idea of breakfast used to repulse me. Not only did I have zero appetite for food at that time of day, but the thought of eating anything used to repulse me. Interestingly, if I go on a real "avoid bender" now, I get into the same pattern--the idea of breakfast doesn't interest me. However, when I eat right for my type and all is in balance and as it should be with me, then I have a very healthy appetite for breakfast.
I used to poo-poo the pro-breakfast set because I rationalized that if I was so repulsed by breakfast, I should listen to the wisdom of my body's clear signal and not eat breakfast. Ha! How about the "wisdom" that I should pig out every night? I listened to that, too. Thing is, my body does have a lot of wisdom to communicate to me, but it could not express it clearly back then, even on those rare occasions when I was capable of listening. The signals were garbled or misfired. I craved carbs and fat when what I needed was protein and EFA's. I was repulsed by breakfast because I was detoxing from the day before and all the AVOIDS I ate. It was a vicious circle.
Funny thing is that now, on the BTD, I do get clear signals from my body. And I can listen. And that is the greatest gift of the whole thing--knowing yourself and trusting yourself. And usually what my body tells me fits exactly with the blood type diet. Oh sure, there are a few little idiosyncracies, like I truly believe that sunflower seeds are okay and good for me. Why? Ironically because this diet has shown me that, when my system is in balance, I can trust myself--even when that data may disagree with the diet as written. Of course, those are the exception and not the rule, but the beautiful thing is that this way of eating and enabled me to trust my body and the signals it sends.
And I now know that if I don't eat breakfast, I am putting myself in a dangerous situation for me for the rest of the day. I tend to go nuts in the evening and overeat if I haven't had breakfast. I tend to want COFFEE at work if I haven't had breakfast. Not good. Anyway, Maggie is so right, eating breakfast will help get ya back on track if you are feeling outta control. You may have to force yourself at first, but after a day or two, you'll be right as rain.
