Hi Robin

I know where you are - I've been there very recently and I know (like Edna!) how difficult it is to get out.

The other responses in this thread are full of excellent ideas.

When I'm trying to get compliant after a difficult time I cook a batch of easily reheatable food which will do me several meals - if I'm really keen I cook a couple of different meals and freeze half of each so I get some variety! This weekend it was beef mince (I think you call it ground beef) and black-eyed bean chili - with tomatoes, onions, red peppers, mushrooms if I can find Portabello. This freezes really well in individual portions and is easy to reheat, either on the stove or in a microwave if you use one. I cook rice fresh - but you can freeze that too - and serve with romaine salad.
My other dish this weekend was venison stew ( I don't often get venison, but found some at my local monthly farmers' market). I used diced venison, onions, garlic, red wine, a little mustard, a handful of mixed herbs, sliced carrots and cubed sweet potatoes - these are really good for thickening the "gravy" - I didn't need any sort of "flour" at all. Although I don't usually freeze things with garlic in - as sometimes it seems to spoil the taste - this was OK. I've just had a portion for lunch with freshly steamed broccoli. Yum.

Just keep reading this board. It is amazing how it helps me to get out of my dreadful times with food. It may take some time, but for me it always helps in the end.

Good luck, thinking of you,
Karen
