..previously posted. Here is a rather interesting article regarding this issues, one that I fully agree with.

Myth #2

I've been told that it's good to get a 30-45 minute cardio workout in first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to burn the most fat. Is this true? Thanks for your help, Sean in Denver

Oh sure if you exercise on an empty stomach your body will have to burn fat because there is not other fuel... dream on! You can't drive a car on an empty tank of gas and you can't run your body efficiently on empty either. When you wake up you're in a fasting state, you haven't eaten all night and your metabolism has slowed. Trying to exercise at this point forces your body to go into survival mode searching for any fuel it can get. Because it's trying to survive, the body saves it's best source of energy for last. Your body's best source of energy is fat because it supplies more calories per gram then anything else. So if it's not using it's fat, your body turns to muscle tissue to meet it's needs. Losing muscle mass probably wasn't one of your goals... was it?

So why do so many people recommend working out an empty stomach? Because many people feel sick and may even get sick when exercising right after a meal or on a full stomach. The best recommendation is to eat a light meal of easy to digest carbohydrates about 30-45 minutes prior to exercise. Many people even chose a liquid meal replacement shake or bar because they are easy to digest, calorie dense (high calorie to quantity ratio) and out of the stomach fairly quickly.

This comes from a newsletter I found on the website: http://www.24 hourfitness.com
