I'm not totally sure what causes the odor but believe it is bacteria that grows; I've been using a product that's called Lavillin and I found it in my health food store. It is a cream that you put on in the evening before bed and wash off in the morning and it usually lasts anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks for me, without ever having to put on any other deodorant between treatments.
