Shake it up

In Response To: Food in general (David)

I found the BTD restrictions or guidelines to be quite divergent from my my pre-BTD eats. My mainstays were tofu, beans, brown rice, pasta, bread, cheeses, fish and chicken. I ate red meat once or twice a year at barbeques.
My favorite meal to serve my house was pork sausage, tofu, pinto beans and veggies over whole wheat pasta (can you count the avoids in this one meal alone) My fav fruit was cantelope, fav "healthy snack" Guacamole and corn chips (yikes!)
I came to LR to try and improve myself I saw that I was headed in the same direction as my parents with high cholesterol, Blood pressure and digestive troubles along with the prescribed medications. That was not how I envisioned my life.
I look at the diet guidlines as a challenge. Some of it has been frustrating and sometimes its fun. I have discovered many new foods and incorporated them into my life. Before BTD I never ate Kale, Collards, Flax, Sweet Potatoes, Plums, or Blueberries.
To improve I gave up a lot but I gained a lot in return. I think If the diet someone is on is not keeping them well it only makes sense to shake it up a bit and see what falls out. I like what I found.
Love and health Loralei
