Maltose in grain products is Candida's ideal nutrient

It surprised me to learn this, because I always considered whole grain foods to be beneficial, or at least benign in the human diet, so I never suspected they could be a source of problems such as candida. But it turns out that maltose, the main form of sugar present in grains, is the ideal food for the candida yeast. By contrast fructose, the main form of sugar found in fruit, does not promote the growth of candida nearly as well as maltose does.
It's interesting to note that maltose is also the ideal nutrient for the bacteria that cause dental cavaties, while fructose does not cause these micro-organisms to flourish. These facts became apparent to me the hard way, after several months of dental and digestive problems, which seemed to arise (unxpectedly) for me while I was eating what I considered to be a "healthy" abundance of brown rice and whole grain oatmeal.
For these reasons I've made grain foods only a condiment, not a staple in my diet, and would recommend to anyone who is suffering with candida to refrain from grain products entirely, and begin taking the probiotics appropriate to their blood type, to help re-balance their intestinal flora.
