Vermicelli vs. Rice Sticks vs. Bean Threads

In the states, our vermicelli is usually always made of wheat of some type. I have seen vermicelli made with rice but it is usually specified as such. For the vermicelli type of pasta made from beans, here it is always called "bean threads".
I don't think it really matters what it is called. It is true that vermicelli is a type of pasta regardless of the medium from what it is made. It is interesting though to hear what things are called or how words are defined in other countries. Hooray for differences! It keeps everything interesting and forces you to realize that it always dangerous to make assumptions based on your own definitions.
