You don't really need milk for your son at all. It's just a habit we have. Some ethnic groups don't have animal milk at all, like most Asian societies. Their bones are just fine! Calcium in calcium-rich foods plus as extra calcium supplement , and juices to replace animal milk is just fine. Does he have cereal for breakfast? Apple, pineapple, grape juice on cereal tastes great! Juices can be heated for a hot drink. Don't forget lemonade.

Rice milk now and again, despite the added oil, is OK for a growing child. Just watch his weight if you are worried. He does need fats and oils in his diet. And if he is an active kid, he will use up the calories for energy, anyway.

Just a ponder -- is it cow's milk or all animal milk that's the problem? Goat and sheep milk/yoghurt/cheese could be possible substitutes, if it is only cow protein that's the problem.

Good luck with finding a healthy and allergy-free diet that your youngster will eat!!!
