In Response To: But Why Would Bs Crave Tofu? (Bob G(O))
I think the problem here is the abstract just doesn't have enough information. Just because Japan has 23% type B doesn't mean there were 23% B in this test group of Japanese-Americans in Hawaii. It also doesn't say how much tofu was consumed on a daily basis by the high/medium/low tofu groups. It doesn't list the other foods tested. These other foods could or could not have included some MSG component. And even if there was MSG in their diet, it doesn't mean the high consumption of tofu had no effect.
In my opinion, there is just not enough information in this abstract to come to any conclusions, yay or nay.
I made a call to Dr. Lon White and asked him (on his voice mail) if the full study was published anywhere. I got this email in reply:
The first (and most comprehensive) paper will be published in April
in the J. Am Coll Nutrition. I am not able to send you a copy of
the manuscript until it is published, but am attaching the abstract
from the talk I gave at the meeting in D.C. in November.
Please note my new E mail address:

I think you have some good questions about this study. Why don't you email him??
