My pet theory: high tofu => low b12

In Response To: But Why Would Bs Crave Tofu? (Bob G(O))
My personal thought on this issue: It is well documented (sorry couldn't locate a concise link, though I've seen 'em before) that low B12 levels are fairly common in the elderly with resultant cognitive loss. It seems to me that those with the highest tofu consumption would tend to have the lowest consumption of animal foods, therefore lowest B12 intake. That, by itself, could produce a correlation to appear between high tofu consumption over many years and eventual cognitive loss. In that case it would be B12 deficiency from long term lack of animal protein, rather than presence of tofu, that was causal. That's my theory. Of course, as a recovered vegan type B, I don't touch the stuff anyway.
