Not Wise to Explain it Away . . .

All that is really proved or demonstrated is that there is a link between midlife soy consumption and brain aging.

While the possible causes sound interesting, they remain only guesses. Maybe the connection does have to do with the type of soy beans used in different cultures. But maybe not. And maybe the effect of brain aging can be offset by sticking to the ER4YT diet. But maybe not. After all, the Japanese do not, as a rule, follow ER4YT, so it is possible that their perceived immunity against Alzheimer's comes from an entirely different source.

It seems that the best answer, until further testing is done, is to moderate soy consumption. AFAIR, the article did not ascribe the link to brain aging to *all* soy consumption but rather to *high* soy consumption.

Guesswork is fun, and guess work is necessary to explore causes of illness. But when it comes to your brain, (and you get only one), I think it's best to protect it and stay on the safe side.

This means limiting my tofu pumpkin pies to fewer than two per week (Dang!), but I guess I'll adjust.
