I posted on this around a year ago. The chief reason is actually to do with the fact that soy increases serum aluminium content by 141% (Setright 1995). The tyrosine kynase inhibition wont affect neural tissue too greatly, nor the oestrogen effects (because as men age, oestrogen levels get higher as they get older). If I have heard of this, why will I continue to eat my soy cereal and soy milk in the morning?????
No, by brain hasn't shriveled up, I have an answer. The soy bean will only take up large amounts of aluminium IF the soil is grown in acidic soil (as all plants will!!). Acidic soil is when soil is high in phosphates, and low in other cations (eg. magnesium). Australian soy is high in magnesium, which also competes with aluminium uptake in the gut, and the brain thus is protective against Alzheimer's. There is a link remember with Alzheimer's and aluminiu. Honolulu's soil is????? If its volcanic, then it will be acidic.
Theres a bigger picture to look at here......why is it that Western people (Australians/Americans), whom eat the lowest soy, get a higher incidence of Alzheimer's than our Eastern brothers and sisters???
We have to have funnel vision, and not tunnel vision.
