Can you trust the FDA? I wouldnt think so, considering they assume everyone is the same. This is not a one-size fits all world we live in. Their idea of a Recommended Daily Allowance for protein is 60 grams a day. That doesnt even consider the person who trains hard everyday. Did you know training hard demands alot of protein? Well it does, and when you sweat.. some protein is excreted through your sweat glands. Any heavy activity that puts demands on your muscles, also causes your muscle cells to be broken down. Unless you want to have your muscles whither away, you'll want to promote new muscle growth (not only to replace the damaged muscle cells from exercise, but to increase overall muscle mass), which in turn requires a higher protein intake. So unfortunately I do not view the FDA with high regards, but rather use the FDA guidelines as a rule of thumb(at best). Take it with a grain of salt... Make that sea salt.
