Ashland, Oregon would probably suit your requirements, including Waldorf school.

Population 17,000. Located in the Rogue Valley of sunny southern Oregon. Surrounded by farmland and the Cascade and Siskiyou Mountains. Ashland Community Food store is a real plus. You can get all your ER4YT foods *organic*, in bulk, sometimes even at 'lifeline' pricing. There is also a growers' market on Tuesdays.

It home to the Orgeon Shakespeare Festival and is a decidedly liberal town with a 60's 'hippy' feel to it. There is some small press publishing and computer programming business in the town. Ashland is also home to Southern Oregon University.

Ocean is 3 hour drive. Medford, a commercial center of 65,000 is 12 miles north.
