Any way you slice it, a brick of soy curd is a highly processed food far removed from its original form. I think for this reason, some people's bodies do not recognise it as food. Soy is very controversial, and you will get differing opinions from one authority to the next. Go to www.rheumatic.org/soy.htm for one more interesting, hotly disputed opinion on the demerits of precipitated soy products (aka tofu or bean curd). According to this source, and others, tempeh is a better way to eat soy. As for my personal experience, tofu causes problems eaten regularly. Tempeh agrees better, but I would consider it a curse if I had to eat the stuff all the time.
