As far as cats and dogs are concerned, they are basically, carnivores. They need a balance of RAW meat , raw vegies and cooked grains. They need the grains and vegies because carnivores eat the intestines of dead animals which has digested grains and vegies. Commercial pet food is loaded with carbos and there is of course, no raw meat. I won't tell you what else can go in pet food. It can get pretty disgusting. If anyone is interested in a petfood recipe for dogs and cats please feel free to email me I'll be happy to send it along as well as a web site with great info on the pet food industry
