For any grains I bring the water to a boil, add the grain and cook for 20 min. less than the normal time (ie. brown rice 20 min). I then let it stand covered for 20 or 30 minutes. If the grain takes less than 20 min., I bring the water to a boil and let it stand for 20 min. Works every time.
