For sc: how much kelp?

I'm interested in your use of kelp for thyroid instability, manifesting in mood swings, etc. I have powdered kelp, sold in bulk by my natural food store--with no directions as to appropriate intake. How much do you take? I've been putting one or two teaspoons in a blender smoothie occasionally. Can you get too much kelp? Anyone else have experience with this? I live in the upper midwest, far from real seafood, and kelp, being an inexpensive whole food, seems like a good idea. Thanks for all info/opinions.
