Advice Needed for Sick 2 yr. old B+ w/ Croup

I have a very sick baby with me. She has croup I believe. Its that horribly congested awful sounding cough. Slight fever and a little cranky but otherwise okay during the day. At night we have a vaporizer going and I have been giving her Echinacea. I'm giving it to her 2-3 times a day (about a half a teaspoon).
Any other suggestions? With my son (also a B+) it lasted weeks...
