In Response To: You decide (Steve Shapiro)

Yes, thanks very much Steve for the sugar-busting link! We've heard since "Sugar Blues" the dark side to the sweet stuff. But I think sugar, like cigarettes (which also contain sugar) is such a powerful substance almost because we kid ourselves that anything so pleasurable can't be bad. Anything such as nicotine and sugar that gets a strong grip on an individual as to make them "crave" seems to me by definition an addiction. And the more we loosen its hold on us the easier it gets to break even more free. At Christmas I went way too sugar crazy and, by January, just had to have it every day! But the less I had, the less I wanted. Sort of like the opposite of developing an "addiction" for something good, like water, in which the more I drink of the cool sweet wonderful stuff, the more I want! Nicki
