A question for Ed or someone who might know about I-131
Posted By: Jan Date: Wednesday, 20 January 1999, at 12:19 p.m.
I am a type O who has had lifelong thyroid problems with Grave's Disease (hyperactive) but still very overweight. The medical result was that I agreed to have radioactive iodine to "kill" my thyroid even though I was advised that I would have to take Synthroid for the rest of my life to give me the thyroid replacement necessary.
My question is - Is this a life sentence now? Will my body ever get rid of the I-131? What are the alternatives?
If you have answered this question before, please let me know where to look.
Thank you so much for your time.
