If oats are an avoid for type O, why is there a recipe containing it in the type O recipe section of the book?

Simple answer: There was a miscommunication between the recipe editor and the co-writers.

More complicated answer: Oatmeal is a neutral for type O secretors, but avoid for type O non-secretors. [See TYPEbase entry] Since 'Eat Right 4 Your Type' did not distinguish between secretors and non-secretors (it only used ABO) the writers elected to make oatmeal an avoid for type Os of both secretor types, since its being a type O non-secretor avoid was viewed as more important than it being a type O secretor neutral. This was what was not communciated to the recipe editor.
