Frequently
Asked Questions
Will my insurance
cover treatments?
Each policy is different; however, many insurance companies are now covering Naturopathic Medicine and see the added benefit of preventive care and establishing health and wellness. You
can check with your company to see if your policy includes Naturopathic medical care.
Connecticut state
insurance by-laws mandate the coverage of Connecticut residents for
naturopathic healthcare by their major medical carriers. This
sometimes extends to neighboring states, such as New York, New
Jersey and Massachusetts through 'extraterritoriality'.
This law does not
apply to so-called 'self-insured entities.' Please check with your
company or insurance agent for more details.
Appointments and lab
work are usually covered at a certain percentage or with a
co-payment, but natural supplements and tinctures are typically not
covered.
Does the Center
handle my insurance claim?
The
Center does not process insurance claims, nor do we participate with
insurance providers. We do however generate the forms required for
you to send to your insurance company.
How can I prepare
for my visit?
There
are a few tricks to a successful visit:
- We
recommend bringing copies of any relevant laboratory tests
(anything over 2 years, unless it helped establish a diagnosis,
is probably not relevant).
- Having
a small index card on which you have listed your major reasons
for coming to the clinic can also be helpful.
- Be
organized! Try to keep focused; time spent on trivial concerns
takes away precious time for the important issues.
- Be
early for you appointment by at least 15 minutes, this allows
for time for the nurse to prep you for your visit.
How can I pay for
my visit?
In
addition to personal checks, the Clinic accepts all major credit
cards.
What is the
Center policy on phone calls with questions?
We
will attempt to answer phone questions which are pertinent to any
health issues discussed at your last visit. We cannot answer
questions about conditions we cannot evaluate in person, nor can we
diagnose or prescribe over the phone. Phone questions are typically
handled by one of Dr. D'Adamo's assistants who will refer them to the
doctor at days' end. For long-distance patients
who want to evaluate their case via the phone, we do provide phone
consultations by appointment.
If
you have any additional questions, please contact the Clinic
directly at 203/834-7500.
