BTD Forums  /  SWAMI Xpress  /  Not sure if Hunter or Gatherer
Posted by: Nadira, Tuesday, July 22, 2014, 1:04pm
My most recent SWAMI run has me as 51% Hunter, with secretor status not listed.

I have "Gatherer" torso and legs, but "Hunter" ring fingers (longer than index).

I have previous results of Hunter 52 or 54% if I run with secretor listed, and results of Gatherer if I run with nonsecretor.

The body type is particularly questionable for me.  Due to very low thyroid for most of my life, and therefore low female hormones, I was always short, but very thin.  There is no body type for this.
After I got pregnant, at the age of 40, I got female hormones.  I am now much 'rounder', like my mother and sister were.

So my question is, since I'm now only 51% Hunter, should I try to follow some sort of combination of Hunter and Gatherer?

Thanks for any opinions.

51% is actually a high percentage.

You should follow the SWAMI report.

For the 49% that the standard Hunter profile that did not match you, the software looked at your individual health needs and customized the diet to meet those.

If you try to mix in the book gatherer diet after the SWAMI report, you will essentially not be effectively utilizing the software that you purchased.

If you have SWAMI, the "genotype label" isn't important. Your SWAMI diet is different from the Hunter diet in the book. It's based on your own data- personal and family health history, as well as your measurements, fingerprints, etc.  It's personalized just for you, while the book diet just lists what's best for "most Gatherers" or "most Hunters."

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I wonder how important secretor status is?  I came out 52% Hunter when I entered Secretor, and 48% Hunter when I put in Nonsecretor...

Does anyone have any ideas for my body type, since it's not really there?

Should I try it again with Endomorph, since that's what I am now?

I'm small-boned, and was always/am short.

Did you look at the difference in the food lists? that's all that's going to matter. It may not make much difference for you on the diet, but still be worth knowing.

Try not to get hung up on body type.

I am a small-boned, short Hunter.  We come in all different shapes and sizes.  I think you are supposed to input the body type that you are NOW, not what you have been in the past.  Your body type can change if you lose weight, so use the body type that best describes your current body type.

I agree with the others - the label of Hunter or Gatherer does not matter.  The food list is what matters.  I put in Explorer for my Swami and the food list what not that different.  In other words, the software looks at all the different parameters.
