BTD Forums  /  The GenoType Diet  /  Gatherer Leg Length

Hello, my name is Chris and I'm new to the forum. Many years ago I bought the Eat Right for Your Type book and now I recently bought the Genotype book.I used the Genotype book to determine I am a gatherer. I have lower legs longer than my upper legs and I followed thru the book and arrived at Gatherer. So I was a bit confused when I went to Genotypediet.com and read under the Gatherer description "Gatherers are not usually very tall, and their lower legs are shorter than their upper legs". I am tall AND my lower legs are longer!

Can anyone explain this? Is this a typo? I would really appreciate it as I want to really give this diet or lifestyle a genuine chance and if I have made a mistake I would like to know before traveling too far on the wrong road.

As with any characterization attempt, there can be some variation.  This is why it says "usually".  To get a more accurate genotype evaluation, you could get the SWAMI Xpress software, which uses more of the measurements the book talks about and blends a more individualized diet for you based on the many data points it uses.  It makes the diet 1 in approximately 12 million, rather than 1 of 6...

The advanced calculator puts a lot of variables together to where even gatherers can have lower legs longer than upper legs.

I came across similar issues with leg length vs. torso length, my legs are sligtly longer than my torso, my lower legs are a good bit shorter than my upper legs, and being A+ and a non secretor with both ring fingers longer means explorer, where as if my legs were shorter than torso, i would be a teacher.  Explorers typically have longer torsos than legs.

But the big picture of explorer added up the most, even though i could relate to other ones and had some traits of those, being a fellow human being ;D

Thx for mentioning SWAMI, I had not heard of it, very interesting to read about it. So each person in our family would need to purchase SWAMI express? Does SWAMI Pro calculate several people? Is it available?

Each person would need to purchase a copy of SWAMI Xpress.

SWAMI Genotype is available to medical practitioners and others who have been certified in IfHI. Read more about it here:
http://www.generativemedicine.org/ifhi/
It is sold with licenses for some number of patients (users).

It does rely on a number of factors.  I've been determined as a Hunter, but I have 'Gatherer' legs.

The thing that changed it for me was that I measured my index and ring fingers very carefully.  It's usually done in mm because it is so small, but it still determines that I'm a Hunter instead.

my legs are a tad hunterish, but I'm a gatherer.

Welcome Ztifpatrick!

haha...  I like the "fitz" turn around! ;)

Regarding the genotype labels: not everyone matches or fits entirely into each of the types, as others have mentioned. I am right in the middle of teacher and explorer.  Getting a swami helped me delve further into my own personal health/background which makes it more in tune with my uniqueness! It is so worth it! It is because of this "personal" touch that many beneficial foods are the same on both my teacher list or my explorer list. So to para quote another member, the label isn't important. I really suggest getting a swami. ;)

My husband and I are getting ready to come and visit your part of the lovely Emerald Isle in a few weeks!! :D It will be our third trip to Ireland since 2005.
We love all of it but do prefer the western side! Wonderful people!
