I have recently discovered Kombucha and I love it! I could drink it by the barrel! The only problem is that it is a black dot on my SWAMI. does anyone know if it is an avoid/black dot because of the black tea it is brewed with or the SCOBY? My thought was that i could brew it with compliant green tea and be able to enjoy my new favorite drink and keep my flora in check. any thoughts?

Hi Amy, you must have checked some box on swami, as some do get it as a beneficial that are O's and nonnie. without knowing all your details, sub blood groups etc, I can comment further.

anyway the black dot means you should not use it for 2-3 months then introduce it slowly and in small quantities if you need to.

I make mine with high quality organic green green tea and i use unrefined organic cane sugar I use only glass containers and when it is ready i add beneficial fruits and herbs on the second ferment.

PCUK- good to know. i'm not sure what i have checked/unchecked to have it be a black dot. I've been on the BTD/GTD/SWAMI for about 4 yrs so i think that counts as the 2-3 months without. I feel no harmful effects from it and i actually feel better! my digestions sems to have improved. I'll go forward with trying to brew my own. seems like a fun science experiment at the very least.
