And they seriously expect any thinking person would believe that their "study" of this conglomeration of  "studies" is worth a hoot!?! Not worth the paper it is written on! How many other studies do you think they left out that didn't support their agenda?! ALL of them in my opinion.

I recall reading something along those lines about 6 or 7 years ago when I read up on low carb diets; long  before I discovered BTD. Come to think of it, I  think I read about "healthy saturated fats" even before my low-carb days, when I was into Traditional Foods (Nourishing Traditions and the like.)

This "news" isn't so new.

This is very old news..

Sally Fallon and Mary Enig  (lipid biochemist)  wrote about this decades ago. So did Dr. Weston Price in the 1930s

are the killer fats.

I had a good laugh when I read your and Ruthie's posts, Chloe! Reminds me of the big hoopla about probiotics a few years ago as if they were just discovered. Adele Davis was talking about such things over forty years ago! What irritated me about the article was the way they were trying to trash fish oil. I personally know people who got rid of heart murmurs they had had all their lives with fish oil. I've been taking it for over twenty-five years and don't plan to stop any time soon. Of course, I had much rather eat fresh fish but that just isn't possible in this area.

There is this guy Brian Peskin Phd who has created a major outcry about fish oil, as if we're all going to be poisoned. These scare tactics are always paid for by a group of individuals or
corporations.to protect their own self interests. They always try to stomp out their competition
by scaring the public so they stop purchasing products.

I think there is some truth to this. I'm sure the big fat eaters who worked hard had less heart trouble. I also suspect that the farmers of olden days ate things in season, so there would be a time they are less fat.
The study doesn't say how much saturated fat is acceprable.  If one eats a trace amount or accasionally splurges, I don't think that would be so bad. Of course, we recognize the blood type factor in diet.  Os & Bs can tolerate this fat, while As & ABs should still avoid it, IMHO.
I still try to avoid saturated fat, but since I eat so much meat, I know I am getting it, no matter how much I trim the meat & drain the fat.
Maybe frying is worse than eating the fat in a stew or something.
The bottom line is that we are still individuals!!

Reminds me of the "Cholesterol is the Culprit" myth.

At least I did meet one doctor who told me, "Don't worry about fats, though - worry about too many complex carbohydrates and sugar."
He seemed to get that, for some people, this was a better plan.
Very few MD's get that OneSizeFitsAll doesn't work.
But watch how fast that Rx pad comes out when your cholesterol is "high"!
