I am going to try this one with almond butter. Isn't 1/2 a teaspoon of turmeric per cup too hot/sharp/strong? I'll see for myself and report  :) Sounds promising  8)

Too sharp for me. I can try again with less turmeric and more almond butter. I think a little rose water would be a good addition.

Now I have finished my very first cup, I have to admit it's addictive! I love it.

It's so warming and soothing. Warming the bones.

Made it with almond butter, royal gelly honey, ginger, cinnamon, and cardamon. Next time will try with less turmeric and more almond butter, until I find the optimal balance.

Drinking this now.  Made a few adjustments based on what I've read so far.  Used just one cup of
almond milk because why bother making 2 cups when I'm just going to drink one.

In my saucepan I added 1 cup unsweetened almond milk but it's flavored with vanilla.  Used a combo
total of 1/2 tsp....of cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and ginger....about 1/4 tsp was cinnamon and used more
ginger than allspice or nutmeg. While it was heating on the stove, I added 1/2 tsp of molasses...but when I tasted it, I felt it needed to be sweeter so added another 1/2 tsp of honey which was perfect.  I cut down the turmeric to about 1/4 tsp which was more than enough. So this is actually 1/2 of the recipe...but I think any more turmeric and the balance would make this too strong for me.  I love this.  Will make it again.

A great way to get a lot of beneficial spices. And on this super cold day, it feels very warming and
satisfying!  :)

I just made this and I used the full teaspoon of turmeric. I didn't have honey, so used agave, and was too lazy to hunt for cardamom so used pumpkin pie spice and extra cinnamon. Yum!

I'm always looking for ways to incorporate turmeric into our diets. This sounds like a great recipe, though I'll probably go easy on the turmeric and maybe start with half the amount.

An interesting idea, but I already use almost all of these ingredients in combination for my wonderful vegetable curry.  I saute vegetables in olive oil (and a little ghee sometimes), homemade ginger/garlic paste, and tamari.  Then when the vegetables are getting tender and leaching out water (mushrooms especially do this), I add homemade curry powder, additional turmeric, nutritional yeast, lemon/lime juice, soymilk, and barley malt (I used to use honey, but barley malt is a diamond).  I simmer with the lid off until it thickens.  You can pour it on rice or eat by itself.  It is the most wonderful way to eat vegetables, every taste bud is firing at once.

Lovely Adam!  Can you give a rough estimate of the amount of each ingredient?  And what veggies do you use?

I don't know if you meant to write "butter" or "milk", but I like the idea of almondbutter!  Instead of tumeric "milk" it would be thicker and creamier and could be used as sauce or dressing for various dishes (or by itself as a tumeric "milkshake"  :) ).  Plus, it is easy (though expensive!) to find pure almondbutters, whereas pure almond, soy, etc. milks are hard to come by and one really has to make them oneself.

Yes, I put in the blender 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of almond butter plus the rest of the ingredients. It's wonderful wonderful, because there's a deep relaxation after having it.

Honestly, I don't need vegetarian milk replacements, and why should I carry home liters of rice or almond milks, which are mostly water. I had quite a trauma once, long before BTD, when I tried commercial rice milk from the organic whole food store and felt very very bad. That sufficed, and I promised myself never again. It was so revolting, that I never even peeped again in the direction, not even for checking the label.

Taking everyone's best suggestions has improved my process.  Yaeli....genius to be using almond
butter/water in a blender.  Have a Nutribullet....so I threw in everything and blended....but used almost boiling water so I made a hot drink.  The best part is that the spices didn't fall to the bottom as they were doing in the pot I was heating this mixture in before.  I now have a perfectly blended, delicious drink using organic almond butter instead of having to bother buying or making almond milk.

This sounds fab!  I think the reason for bringing the items to a simmer (original recipe),  is so that the turmeric and ginger get absorbed into the milk.    So blending it with the almond butter would most likely serve the same purpose and then one could heat it up if one chose.  I use organic ginger powder instead of fresh.

Here's a Tumeric Smoothie I found online.   Adjust to fit your compliancy.  :)  

Turmeric Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

    1 cup hemp or coconut milk
    1/2 cup frozen pineapple or mango chunks
    1 fresh banana
    1 tablespoon coconut oil
    1/2 teaspoon turmeric (can be increased to 1 tsp)
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon ginger
    1 teaspoon chia seeds
    1 teaspoon maca (optional)

Add all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth.

Finally, got around to making this last night. Incorporating Yaeli's idea about using a blender, I combined all the ingredients (home made almond milk, turmeric, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, honey, fresh ginger and a pinch of salt) in the blender jug and blitzed for a minute or two before warming it on the stove.

Wow, it was a real delight just before bed. Very calming and made my whole body feel good. I did toss and turn in the night and had some night sweats so I wonder if there was some sort of cleansing/realignment going on? I do have these ingredients individually (sometimes combining one or two) in other dishes, but never all at the same time so......
