Hi everyone-- first time posting-- love reading all the support everyone gives here!! I'm scared as back in June I was laying out daily here in S Fla & got a small blackhead on my lower L back. BF "popped" it in October & it has since become a lot bigger with a "head" (ick, I know!!) -- have popped it a few x's but it keeps filling again & just itches & hurts. Yesterday, I had him break it again-- watery blood & painful. Think it's infected-- not sure. I do NOT want to go on any antibiotics & wish to know if there is any alternative before seeing an MD-- have used hot, wet compresses & now have triple antibiotic ointment on it & don't want to "mess" with it anymore. Anybody have any suggestions?? I am O + & follow the HB list pretty diligently & take polyplora O -- thank you & I hope I did this 1st post correctly!!

You may need to have an incision and drainage.

Assuming it is a sebaceous cyst, it may not require antibiotics even if infected. Or it may.

Thanks Lloyd--appreciate your response a lot!! I just dread my dr.'s usual response of " well, u need antibiotics" Never had such an annoying "cyst" or whatever it is-- God!! Looked on YouTube bout "cysts drainage"--- Not just scary, but gross & terrifying!! Very difficult to watch!! Thank You again :)

A dr. can give you a diagnosis, but he cannot make you take the treatment (usually).
So if you are unsure of what it is, get a diagnosis to rule out something horrible. Then you can decide to use alternative things like lots of vitamin C, goldenseal (a good detox herb-but check if it is OK for your type), etc.
Welcome to one of the greatest forums on the internet!!!! Yay!!!

have a professional remove it, surgically

I had a cluster of sebaceous cysts removed from my scalp, 15 years ago.  It wasn't so bad.  The doctor injected around it with Novocaine, quickly removed them and stitched closed.  Not even a scar.  And no antibiotics.

If yours is infected, that could need additional meds, though.  Be brave.  Sometimes we need help.  :)

The only other thing I could think of in the meantime, add sea salt to those hot water compresses.

Good morning & thank you everyone!! I'm definitely gonna see the doctor-- just to make sure what it is & whether or not it's infected. I'm not scared about pain really, just potentially having to take antibiotics!! Thank you for the sea salt idea -- I hadn't thought of that!! Thank you again everybody :)

it's a cyst, by definition it is a bacterial infection. from your description it has surfaced and you can remove it yourself if you can stomach it but just pokeing a hole and squeezing can be bad. it needs to be cut and rinsed out. squeezing could leave behind the infection to regrow. as you have done this once already you know were that leads. once fully cleaned out some topical antibiotic or tea tree oil can be applied and should finesh off any small amounts of infection.
this is messy, and sometimes painful done yourself so you may wish to have a professional who can apply local anistetic to the site before proceeding.

I believe that Naturopaths who are graduating now are trained in removal of things like this.  Could be worth calling around to find one who is.  They wouldn't be as likely to push chemical meds.
