I am a blood type O+ Nonnie and I eat a TON of veggies so I was just wondering if anyone else has the issue of carotenosis? I know I dont have thyroid problems because I have been tested and I know I dont have jaundice so it leaves me to believe its the Vit A that I take in daily. I eat a ton of squash, kale, red peppers and spinach so I am guessing this is why I have an orange/yellow "glow" to my skin. My palms and soles are ORANGE though. Please tell me I am not the only one that has this issue! Haha! I love my veggies!!! :)
PS
Anyone have any ideas hwo to fix it (without giving up my veggies)...or do I just deal with the color issue?

Way before ERFYT I was taking Beta Carotene and my skin turned orange-ish.  I stopped taking the recommended dose and it went away.

It's not healthy, so start replacing the offending veggies with beef until you get to a happy medium and are no longer orange.

a couple of things to consider, first red peppers might be an avoid for you.

secondly when you say you eat a ton of veggies perhaps that is and issue too, anyone who starts a question asking people not to suggest something (without giving up veggies), may well be addicted to that item. and when i say "may" i am attempting to be polite ;)

If you use swami you would be advised as to the quantities of relevant veggies.

one final though, how do you know you are not jaundice?

Are you taking any vitamins that contain beta-carotene? If so, stop.

You don't necessarily need to stop eating red and orange veggies, but you may need to cut down on how many you're eating, and add in some other vegetables to replace them. I don't think the kale or spinach should be a problem, but maybe cut back on the squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc, for now. Try eating parsnips, rutabaga, turnips, or any other fruits on your list that are not orange.

pcuk-
red peppers are beneficial for me so that is not the problem and thanks for the "trying to be polite" but I am not addicted to veggies, that statement in itself is hilarious!
ruthiegirl-
you always have great suggestions! thank you for your input. I take a prenatal right now because my husband and I are trying to get pregnant so the beta carotene is in the supplement also. I think I will just get use to the orange glow I have. Lol. Its like a tan without the harmful effects of the sun! ;)

ps
carotenosis is not harmful I have done much research on this, I was just trying to find alternatives to help reduce the color of my palms.

You might do better looking for a prenatal without the beta carotene, or take individual supplements (especially B vitamins) rather than a multi if you can't find one without the added beta-carotene. Or at least consider switching to a mixture of supplements when you finish this bottle.

I actually just spoke to my Ob Gyn and she said that I should call my pharmacy and see if they know of a multi without the beta carotene or just dont take a multi at all and just buy a folic acid supplement. so I think I finally found mu answer!!! :)

I would personally recommend a B-complex vitamin over a plain folic acid vitamin. Vitamin B-6 can help reduce pregnancy-related nausea.

Ruthiegirl thats so funny I just talked to my Ob Gyn and pharmacy and they said the same thing. So I called my local health food store and I am going to pick up a B-Complex with C and Folic Acid. This should reduce some of the yellow tone to my palms. I just dont want to give up my favorite veggies!!! ;) I guess you could say Im "addicted" Lol.
