Can someone please tell me why type O's cannot eat quail or quail eggs? I am O as well as my son and our little Coturnix hens give us 7-9 eggs per day. I noticed they are also the only poultry O's can't eat. So what is it about these little birds that we need to avoid?

Thanks!

If you are a nonsecretor, you can have them.

If you have not tested for secretor status you might want to.

More info on secretor status:

It is the proteins ( lectins ) in the foods that are the reason.

The TypeBase4 will give the reasons why.

If it turns out you shouldn't eat them, you might be able to sell them for a reasonable amount of money - (only place I have seen them for sale, they were quite expensive gourmet treat) and buy other eggs?!

Thank you! What is TypeBase4? I am new to some of this though I have been loosely following the BTD from a paperback for a couple years. I don't remember that term from the book.

What is TypeBase4?

Typebase4 is the online food chart with some definition why foods are avoid.  Here is the link:

Quail has a lectin, so I'm assuming that is why it is not good for Type O.

The quail egg entry provides no information about why it is a problem.

They are a superfood for me and I know how tiny they are. I would buy them in a heartbeat - you could promote them as the ideal hors d'oeuvres boiled and served on a cocktail toothpick. Or a Barbie doll omelet - lol!
