Are sweet potatoes still healthy if you fry them in compliant oil?

I hope so, I've always counted that as a yes, guess you'd still need to watch the amount of oil.

Generally, combining two Beneficial or Neutral foods results in a food that is still good for you.  It is possible that any cooking method may reduce certain vitamin content, but there won't be any problem lectin added...

Yes. Just be careful not to overheat the oil, as that causes healthy parts of the oil to become unhealthy. Also watch out for portion sizes on the oil.

"Chips" in America are thin, dry, crispy things, served room temperature, that the Brits call "crisps." What the Brits call "chips" are what we call "fries"- bigger chunks of vegetable fried in oil so that the inside is soft and the outside is crispy and they're served hot.

Frying "crisps" will use a lot more oil per veggie serving than "fries" will.

oven baked means less oil......same crunchiness ;D

I use walnut oil, it's a diamond for us. I like the heavier/woodsy (?) flavor with sweet potatoes

It's all still deep fried/roasted oil coated starch…Dr. D advises all us O's not to become "starchitarians" especially O Nonnies...

Walnut oil is delicate and should not be heated to high temps - better for salad dressings…

I fell off the wagon on numerous occasions over the past 2 weeks - have had visitors non-stop since 18th December - the last lot don't leave until Sat 4th Jan - I'm looking forward to going 110% compliant as soon as they leave….Bah Humbug…pass me another sausage roll will ya…cor blimey, don't fit me trousers... :P  :o ::)

Sweet potatoes are a diamond for me which means they assist in weight loss and have other beneficial effects on my body.  And you can heat certain Walnut Oisl up to Med temps.  You just have to buy the correct Walnut oil. But I would use Rice Bran Oil which is also a diamond and can be heated to high temps if needed.

Dehydrated sweet potato crisps are nice, try them. perhaps try coating with a raw complaint oil. and sticking to complaint portions

that sounds great but I don't have a dehydrator anymore.  funds are tight right now.. have to spend money on healing.

I nearly can't believe that those should be ok for an A2B nonnie... those with the most aboundant of calories and then added as chips & oils...yaminei....(goofy)(hugegrin)(eek)(shrug)(unhappy)... I don't eat them even in whatever a form coz of the
glyx.... :-/

Wasn't there something written about deep-frying any kind of potato = plasticine compounds naturally forming within? (any kind of deep fried starch). Todays bags of fried sweet potatoes are heavy, even when kettle cooked crunchy. I would prefer mine baked. I wonder if they make atomizers for oil :)

Sweet Potatoes thin thin sliced and brushed with olive oil and sprinkle with salt?  then how long to bake?

I absolutely love baking sweet potato fries in the oven but admit to using the coconut oil for this.  I do them at 200 degrees Celsius so what would be a better oil for a type O?  Oh, and I leave the skin on and cut them fairly thick - about 1-1.5cm thick.  So yummy!

Sweet potatoes are a Benny for me -- White potatoes are a Neutral.

Why is it that I'm not a big fan of sweet potatoes? I don't know, but when I do eat them I tend to like them baked whole in their skin, then buttered-salted-peppered.
Or roasted with rosemary/salt/olive oil.

The chips form has never appealed to me, though I'm a fan of standard potato chips.
As fries, I find them too sweet -- more dessert-y. Even with a savory dipping sauce. :-/

I'm astonished... seems to be ok for sechis but nonnies as well??)...Those have the double of calories naturally of w.potatoes so far ad oil and the frying process and get your ....ooops...(goofy)(hand)(shrug)..... :X

I use rice bran oil. It's a diamond on my Hunter Swami and it has a very high smoke point.

It's quite neutral tasting so I jazz up my sweet potato chips with a little salt, red pepper flakes and ground cumin. Yum!
