BTD Forums  /  Eat Right 4 Your Type  /  Low stomach acid?

I have had much success with my BTD/Genotype diet for a few months. Now I am having digestive symptoms return.....constipation alternating with diarrhea, heartburn, abd pain, etc. I am type A NON and GT3 Teacher.

I have already cut out all of my avoids for over 60 days...and haven't introduced any back except a bit of butter. I cook all my vegs....raw tends to hurt. Someone suggested juicing or smoothies but I feel that we need to chew our food to help with digestion signals to the brain.

I have in the past ate for hypoglycemia; combining a carb, a healthy fat, and a protein. This has helped me but I am not sure if it is necessary now. I have started to try to separate animal protein from carbs at meals...except maybe breakfast. Now I have been told to not eat fruit with meals but after or at a separate sitting.

Where do I go from here to begin healing again? Any suggestions? My head is spinning. I don't know what to eat!

Sounds like you need a few supplements.

Quoted from emilydeer
having digestive symptoms return.....constipation alternating with diarrhoea, heartburn, is usually related to things along the line of too much grain, sugar and sweets Dr D says to cultivate a taste for green tea a good one like Mr Itaru.

are you eating protein earlier in the day as advised. by the way non secretor type a sometimes have a little extra stomach acid.

limit portions of chicken and the like to only a few times a week.

better to not mix protein and carbs .

try ghee instead of butter

add a little falx oil olive oil to your diet and eat a little beneficial fruit like pineapple .

I cook all my vegs....raw tends to hurt try bromelain supplement Dr D's is wonderful.

Thank you for your replies.

I am taking magnesium. And am looking into other supplements also, maybe B12 and cod liver oil.

I only just recently added some grains and sweeteners back into my diet after having given them up for over 6 months. I thought they were my problems in the first place. I did not feel better until cutting out red meat and certain avoid list foods.

However, the added grains and sweeteners are only on my beneficial and neutral lists........so I assumed I was doing a good thing. I have also cut back on chicken and am trying more veg protein but I think beans and peas are part of the problem. I do soak them to get a lower phytate level and make them more digestable but I still have cramps.

I appreciate everyone's input!! Thank you!

Could be IBS. Try a month of trial of probiotics and eat smaller more frequent meals.
