I feel tired or weak a lot. The only sign in my blood work is a low DHEA-S level. Any ideas to what might be causing it besides adrenal fatigue?

DHEAS levels are not routinely measured. A DHEAS test may be ordered, along with other hormone tests, whenever excess (or, more rarely, deficient) androgen production is suspected and/or when a doctor wants to evaluate a person's adrenal gland function.

I read an article yesterday that stated low stomach acid (HCl) can lead to adrenal fatigue and low DHEA.  Blood type A's typically have low stomach acid levels. Have you ever tried supplementing HCl?

I will share with a friend of mine with grinding fatigue.. he suffers greatly.. he feels a little better with Standard Process Adrenal support from his chiro.  That would always be the first as it is not harmful.

Reduce coffee intake dramatically especialy after lunch. At least be more judicious about it.  It is ok to wake up, but not all day.  At the very least switch to decaf for some.. or mix it half and half until you get used to it, or you might get headaches.

any other ideas would be welcome.

Years ago I had it, but for me it went away.  diet was the niggest thing I ever did for years.    

Then on thing that really helped is ... only thing that ever changed my mood for the better... was Trehalose Complex.

Also look into how well you sleep.  I wake up often to move my head / Breathing is on issue.  
or to turn even, being in some pain. you can tell how the sheets look when you get up.
Diabetes onset might have been on issue long ago, until I started to treat it.  I have muscle issues from neuropathy, so solid sleep could be on issue.  Eventually it drove me to the emergency room, I treat it .. but not with pills..  if need be ask me.

But I still allow me to sleep whenever I feel like.  For me a nap is 90 minutes.  Yet I am up at 5.

Turn off all distractions.. lights and the like.

Eat raw ginger every day. It fights fatigue, especially in Type A, aids in digestion, is a strong antioxidant, and is a beneficial.

I would also focus on getting enough plant protein from soy, legumes, and grains. Protein is the building block of life. I recommend you always make sure you are getting your protein from plant sources and not animal sources which will only turn to fat and not assimilate into the proteins your body needs for energy.

How long have you been following the BTD, and how carefully do you follow it?

If you've just started on BTD, then give the diet some time to work. If you're still including some "avoid" foods on a somewhat regular basis, then increase your compliance and see if you still feel fatigued after a few weeks of clean eating.

If you've already been eating right for more than a few months, then it's time to look at supplements and/or fine-tuning your diet.
