[size=14]Myself (A) and my partner (B) are new to the BTD and finding it very interesting but hard to find stuff we both can eat.  Also my partner (B) is a long time vegetarian and although unhealty (diabeties, overweight, high blood pressure and depression) will not entertain the idea of eating meat or poultry.  He does eat fish. Any helpful suggestions to help him change his mind or maybe he should be on some supplements?  ??)[color=blue][/color]

If he will eat fish eggs and dairy he will be a fine B ;D
What is VERY important as a B is to choose the right oils- most seed oils are no go- use butter, ghee and olive oil as the basics.
and choose the right nuts and pulses.
Eating less grain and juices  and more fat from dairy, olive oil, fish etc is a very good way to help wih obesity and diabetic issues.

Especially lots of fish oil, B vitamin complex and zinc and magnesium is very helpful for B´s moods.

If you have ER4YT, compare A and B diets.  you will find many shared foods in the Beneficial and Neutral categories.

As far as convincing your partner to star eating meat, well, just be happy he eats fish for now and concentrate on getting his weekly intake into him.  I have a vegan, Type O, daughter-in-law who is close to turning 40.  It is a social thing with her.  Most hard to change a mind when under pressure from friends.  Hopefully she will come around when the health problems begin to escalate.  Sad.

Make an Excel sheet of both your foods.  You can color code similarities or differences.  It takes a while to do but you’ll refer to it for years, so it is worth it.

Slowly as he feels better maybe he will eat some meat-- when we are depressed we can not see what is good for us.

Meat production is not all the same.

Sacrificing our health for animals is not the best for the world.

The journey has just begun stick with it.

You would think being an unhealthy vegetarian would be motivation enough to switch to a healthy happy B.

Avoiding chicken, corn and wheat would be a great start.

This is very useful and encouraging - thank you.  Another problem is that he is very sensitive to Dairy and has avoided it in the past because it produces very heavy mucus.  Is this likely to change if he eats more for his type?

I have already done this and yes it is very helpful.  A big learning curve!

This is underway - the wheat avoidance is a biggy - finding alternatives in healthfood shops is timeconsuming and expensive. No doubt this will get easier in time.

Things that help are learning to have a lower reliance on 'bread' or 'breading' and taking advantage of use of grains such as rice and quinoa in your cooking.

It might help to think "Asian" for a while in terms of meal construction until you get used to it. There are in fact suitable noodles and wraps made of rice if you have to have those products. Mostly I incorporate what grains I use directly into the meal as opposed to use a side dish.

Namaste as i was thinking about this ( you are not the first to come here with this concern) ithought what a burden sick people are on society as a a whole   Please do not take this the wrong way just contemplating how often people think some how they wil save the world by not eating meat and meanwhile they are a burden to the health care system.

I know you never said that he thinks he will save the world, just making a generalization  ;)

Just to encourage you a bit I hope, rest assured that this time cosuming and getting creative and inventive re your nutrition are things that you are going to thank yourself for infinitely - for decades, especially when you are elderly, as years go by and you get healthier and healthier.

Much of the time, eating a beneficial food causes the body to remove avoid "junk" from the body, rather than the body storing it.  If this shows in the form of mucus carrying junk out of the body after eating a beneficial dairy product, then it may reduce over time as more beneficial foods replace the avoid ones and the body clears toxins from past diet...

I agree and maybe pick low lactose dairy first like butter/ghee and cheese- and later maybe try with real unsweeten high quality full fat yoghurt.

If addicted to wheat- try spelt
- but in general with his health problems I would keep my grains very low and choose glutenfree grains like rice, millet and quinoa.

I used to be a very sick and fat vegetarian and it was such an Eye opener how well I feel without the high grain -seed oil - wrong pulses diet ;)

I used to think that my heavy mucous was cause directly by dairy, but since eating for my genotype I have added in the beneficial types of dairy, with no troubles with mucous once I had finished detoxing. I think the mucous was caused in the past by eating avoids, not realising they were avoids of course.

Thank you to everyone - THere have been some very insightful answers, especially in relation to the Mucous initiated by Dairy.  We are firmly on the path and with our new knowledge I cant envisage us straying too far from it.  :)

Protein:
I love fish. I love meat. Poultry is okay.
But, yes, I could eat fish every day. If you are the one cooking, really master it. Make it amazingly delicious. Get him really looking forward to it, like it's less of a complete meal if there's no fish, you know?
Or eggs. Eggs are fantastic protein/energy - I find them on a par with beef for sheer energizing power.
Definitely add dairy to his straight-veg. or straight-fruit snacking/dishes where possible:
--Yogurt or cheese to the fruit;
--Cheese to the vegs/salads
that sort of thing.

Nuts are good "supplements", but you needn't overdo them. If he's eating oatmeal, some chopped roasted almonds or walnuts are nice in there. In salads, in vegs, you get the idea, which is to add protein to just about everything, so keep nuts and eggs and cheese on hand for that purpose.

Carbohydrates:

Mucus? I have a feeling it could be just as much a flour or fruit thing as a dairy.
People who drink a lot of fruit juices tend to have postnasal drip and sinus problems, too.
Switch from juices to good ol' carb-free spring water or green tea.

And I concur with above advice about from flour to wholer grains.
Also, go with starchy vegetables that are Beneficials instead of grains at all! If he likes sweet potatoes and winter squashes, this is just the time of year to be enjoying those. Beneficial beans are another way to steer clear of the breadbox and even the grain pantry.

As for the A/B meal-merge: Especially if he's not eating meat, there's no reason your meals cannot generally be shared. Just take your soyfoods separately, A - that sort of thing.

Cow dairy products give me sinus problems big time (I know, as an A I don't need much dairy at all, but I love my yogurt......).  When I switched to goat or sheep's milk products I found my sinus cleared up quickly.  You might try those for your partner until his system gets cleaned out by eating all the good stuff and avoiding the grains, etc. that others have mentioned.

I will never forget when one day just a few weeks after faithfully following the BTD I felt an inner sense of well being that I hadn't felt for years!
