I've been trying the BTD for 11 days.  My aunt and dad are also doing the BTD.  Both of them have lost at least 8 lbs.  I have lost (and gained) the same 2 lbs.  Currently, I am at zero loss.  I understand that weight is not the only factor of health - and that many people here have health issues that have improved w/ the diet and life style change.  I am a pretty healthy, 36 yr old woman.  I am 5' 3" and weigh 161 lbs.  I started the diet because I want to lose 20 lbs - and I don't know what else to do!  I've tried restricting calories and increasing exercise...and that doesn't work!  How can I eat 1300 calories and GAIN a lb overnight?  When I read ER4YT - it made sense to me...those calories were coming from potatoes, pasta, - mostly avoids for my type O blood.  So WHAT I eat is just as important as HOW MUCH.  I was excited to try it -- Week 1 I eliminated wheat/gluten, corn, potatoes, pork, yogurt, milk (use soy milk when necessary)...and I started substituting the avoid fruits/veggies/nuts/etc. for beneficial (or neutrals).  Yes, I made a few mistakes....realizing after the fact that corn syrup was hiding in some small 100% beef links I had used in a recipe, for example.

I won't lie and say that I am at the gym daily...but I have started walking with a friend (Friday I walked for 75 minutes), and I have made an effort to get some physical activity every day.

I just feel so discouraged - I don't know what I'm doing wrong.  I don't have the money to invest in computer programs, tests, etc. right now...especially when I am not even sure if this is going to work for me.

Avoiding wheat will be the major thing to do. I have found that Type O's over do fruit in the early days to compensate.

obviously if you cheat and have too much sugar, sweets, ice cream, fruit juice or similar you will not lose weight

keep a food diary or preferably get swami done by a practitioner. the results can be amazing.

well done for the first 11 days, but do give it a chance, it's taken 36 years to get to this stage.

If you need extra help look at some of Dr D's supplements or ask a practitioner.

I don't think you are doing very much wrong, except getting impatient.  11 days is barely enough time to get started.  We don't know what the body will choose to heal first, but often it is not a slight overweight condition.  If you are basically healthy, then it will be harder to see what benefits you are gaining, but many sub-clinical conditions can be overcome now to reduce future problems.

So, enjoy the transition - this is a lifestyle change to better health rather than a "weight-loss diet", although weight loss will happen when the body determines it is the greatest need.

You are doing better than I did when I first started.  I only gave up 2 avoids per month.

Give your body a chance to catch up with the changes and you will see results.

This is what I ate yesterday:

1 cup of coffee w/ a splash of soy milk and Truvia
Sweet potato, lightly pan fried in olive oil, ketchup, scrambled eggs,(splash of skim milk in eggs)
Home made Rice chex mix (walnuts, craisen cranberries– low sugar, choc. Covered plums) – approx.. half cup total –
Applebees --10 oz. sirloin, green beens w/ garlic, ceasar salad w/ dressing – no crouons
Snacks - Apple, green tea,

I've been losing and gaining back the same 4 pounds for about a month now, but I've noticed significant changes in my body's shape rather than weight.  Things seem to be moving around, and my body looks a lot more even now...  Less like I'm pregnant, or simply swallowed a beach ball.  Maybe you're having some of the same?

I was hoping to lose a bunch of weight too, but I feel so vibrant and alive eating this way, I hardly care about my weight anymore.  If I step outside on a nice day, I feel like running, and I can't say as I've ever been a runner.  Walking is great, and I'm doing a lot of that too, but I didn't notice a lot of difference until I started adding weights in.  Maybe try some basic lifting exercises with 5# free weights a try?  Good luck to you!

Don't stress on calories so much. You can eat more veggies and meat.

Walking isn't exactly the recommended exercise for BT O. You should try sprinting, HIIT, as it is refered to. Anyway BT O are suppose to get intense exercise. That means busting your butt with some effort.

But it has been a week, don't worry. I don't know what your health has been like but there are a few helpful options supplements, depending. But really just intense exercise is the trick to BT O.

Give it time. You're following a health protocol that will lead to weight loss. A fast weight loss approach is tempting, but ultimately backwards and disappointing. Read carefully what's been advised here, read Dr. D'Adamo's books, and watch out for hidden ingredients in processed and restaurant foods as they can undermine your efforts. O Deflect and a few other supps to address metabolic issues would probably be advised as well.

More of the same I'm afraid  ;D

Give it more time, 11 days is nothing in the grand scheme of things  ;)...you are doing soo well giving up all the avoids in one foul swoop- took me weeks!!

Concentrate on the changes you do notice...change in energy maybe, or better sleep, or a more even blood sugar, or better skin...

Pat yourself on the shoulder for every new good meal you are creating- it is not easy letting go old favorites and inventing new ones  :)

Your body has to go through a lot of detox, before things get better.
Maybe it does that by taking on water to flush out toxins?? Just a thought...

Chin up- you will not regret this and you will lose weight, promise!

PS: keep up the walking and do house work VIGOURISLY  ;D All that hard hitting O exercise will come by itself- you will WANT to do it- sounds crazy but is true  ;D Don't give me a snips, hand me the axe!!

The coffee is not good for you, but you can give it up over time.

Sweet potato is great, but the ketchup probably has vinegar and corn syrup.

Don't be scared to eat, especially if you have been on reduced calories prior to changing to BTD...  We need to eat enough to supply the body with adequate energy to clean, heal and exercise...  If the body has been calorie starved, it will take some time for it to realize that you are feeding it enough that it doesn't have to save every morsel for a time of shortage...

It's only been 11 days. Few people start losing weight THAT quickly. Yes, some do, but not all, and if you've done a lot of "yo-yo dieting" in the past, your metabolism may need more time to heal before your body is ready to let go of excess fat.

Where are you in your menstrual cycle? I often gain 4-5 pounds of water weight when my period is due- if I manage to maintain that week, it usually means that I've still gained the water weight but also lost an equal amount of fat.

You may be eating too little. 1300 calories may not be enough for a 160 pound, active woman. Os tend to lose more weight when we make sure to eat ENOUGH, especially enough protein and fat (cutting carbs won't hurt us), which gives us the energy to be active.

Restaurant salad dressing is very bad for you for many reasons.

Do you cook for yourself?

Grass fed meat is very important-- small pieces of good quality meat.


The acorn pile is always the largest  ;)

I would stop weighing myself, throw the scale in the garbage. Take all your body measurements arms legs hips waist, they will change before the weight comes off.

You can do this try not to get discouraged the TV show the Biggest Loser has made us think if we do not lose 10 lbs a week something is wrong with us.

Gen, every so often I post here my graph of weight, waist size, and fat percentage.  My purpose is NOT to brag.  It's to show how long weight loss can take and also how many ups and downs there are along the way.

At this time of year, the daylight hours are dwindling fast, and my body wants to store fat.  Everything's going up.  But in December it'll level off and reverse.  I trust this process and try to let it play out.

Just a quick comment about Applebee's steak....  While steak is great for Type O, the seasonings and sauce that come with chain restaurant steaks isn't so good.  The flavor enhancers they use contain avoids and will make you hungry and obese if you eat it every day.  Once a month out of desperation is fine.  Every day would not be. :)
