BTD Forums  /  SWAMI Xpress  /  How to determine Y Chromosome DNA Haplogroups

So I received my 23andme results back.  I only have the Y Chromosome DNA Haplogroups information since I have not had a male relative to take the test.

My Haplogroup: L2a, a subgroup of L2

Is this enough to determine my Y Chromosome DNA Haplogroup?  I still don't know which one to select in swami.

L2a is a subclade of the L group.  In Swamix you select the L2 (l1 and descendants) option from the drop down listing for the MT box.

L2a

- This subclade is sometimes called "Mediterranean" as it occurs in southern Europe from Portugal to Turkey

The Y (male) chromosome group should be left blank.

Sorry, my mistake ... I edited my post with the correct answer.  Yes, the Y chromosome group should be left blank as Lloyd indicates ...

Only male relatives can provide that info ...  :-/

Thank you both.  That helps and makes sense. I was looking at the wrong drop down box.

Good to see you had a positive experience. I have been trying to decide between Nat Geo or 23.
I am going to get the test for myself and have my Dad do it for my Y group. Thank goodness he is 83 and still doing well except for having Parkinsons Disease. :-/ he told me I had better hurry up before..... :P :'( but I swear he will outlive me!!! :o
He is O-
I am so excited to find out all of this info, too! ;)
