I havent started this BTD in order to just lose weight. However i read time and time again that by following your BTD you will lose weight. So im interested to see how much weight you guys have lost since starting the BTD.

Hi, carreral4!

I lost 60 lbs., 25 in the first few months.  This naturally anti-inflammatory diet was my key for reversing metabolic imbalances that had been developing over the years from eating comparatively healthy, yet blood-type inappropriate foods.

fab cant wait. i havent touched grain for nearly 2 days now and im already less bloated and feel lighter, can eat without feeling tired after.   ;) ;D

97 pounds, but it took me a long time and a lot of trial and error before everything totally clicked for me.  I yo-yo'ed back up a few times.  However, while I know I will have to be mindful and intentional about diet for the rest of my life, so I am not cocky about things, I also feel increasingly confident that I've finally "got it" now and will maintain a healthy weight for life.  I'm still going for a few more pounds, to take me to an even 100 lost, however, I'm happy where I am and if this is where my weight settles, color me GRATEFUL.  I got to my original goal in 2010 and have not only maintained it, but lost an additional 22 to 24 lbs (it fluctuates *lol*) in the almost three years since then.  It's all good!

That's wonderful! Being energized is SO much more important than what size clothes you're able to wear.

Very wise!  After just a few weeks on the ER diet I had a strong sense of health and well being that I hadn't felt in years and years!

After a year I had lost 30 pounds.  My weight has not varied more than 2 pounds more or less since then.  

It's so wonderful to be healthy and maintain a healthy weight without having to think about anything except the nutrition I'm putting into my body!  (And I do love wearing size 6 and 8 clothes, after having had to buy "old lady styles" in size 14 with elastic waists!)(dance)

P.S.  Not to wax all moderator-y, since I'm not one, BUT:  shouldn't this thread be moved to ER4YT or somewhere and not the GenoType Diet forum, as it is inquiring about how much weight peeps have lost on the BTD?  (Though, in my case, my weight loss is really thanks to both the BTD and GTD, so could be posted anywhere on the site *lol*.  I started on BTD for years, then went to the GTD which I still follow, and SWAMI recommends a hybrid, which is basically what I do, though when in doubt, I go with the GTD, since I need to get my fingerprint kit and get the accurate results into SWAMI one of these years before I trust the results.)

c..4 -Cymru am byth!! (my parents live in the Snowdonia National Park)

It's difficult to say - I've been on GTD as Gatherer since 23rd May - slightly modified by getting Swami and Non-secretor confirmation at the beginning of September - I've lost 26lbs in 18 weeks.

In doing so:-

1. I went cold turkey on: coffee, black tea, milk, all sugars/sweeteners, wheat, corn, potatoes, kidney beans etc overnight - expect a few headaches as your body detoxes - drink plenty of water.

2. I had  quite dramatic results in the first 3 weeks - dropping kilos quite easily - this won't last it's healthy to lose 1-2 lbs per week WITH the exercise per Dr D's advise from the books/ swami. Eating Avoids or re-introducing Black Dots too soon will curtail all of your hard work and possibly make you feel poorly / ill

I've got another stone or so to drop, I have no doubt that it will go over the next few months, if I stick to what it says in the book /swami...

Thanks!  Actually, I'm fine where I am, yet I'm just trying to see if I can jettison a few more pounds (more like 5 than 3  ;D ).

My -  Ma and Pa are on the coast right between Harlech and Barmouth. My Aunt and Uncle are on Anglesey - A famous Welsh author of "I Bought a Mountain" - previously lived in my (now) house...

How do you think laverbread  :X figures on the D'Adamo diet? - I did have a quick look at wiki, and it says  Laver is akin to Nori from Japan - so I think it does count as one of the evaluated Sea Vegetables on the BTD/GTD diet...I only tasted laverbread once when on holiday as a kid - it was smothered with brown sauce - looked and tasted like a cow pat in a field - walk away....!!!

pssst....I thought lava was more akin to dulse, since it's grown in the atlantic ocean....isn't it porphyry color?

Carreral, you will probably have an easier time losing than others since some of us posting are perimenopausal, or post menopausal, or clearing up some bits of chronic illness. But for sure it is a unique path for each as they continue to learn what works best for them.

I've lost zero in 1 year of doing SWAMI. What it has done for me is defeat 14 years of binge/purge cycles,identify walnuts as a key way to let my cortisol level dispers and my brain cells self-clean, and uncover preexisting adrenal/hormonal imbalances so that they can be treated properly.

Even at 205 pounds it has prevented me from sweating bullets in the heat, and having prematurely arthritic joints.  (ok) da iawn.

...pssst -  you may well be right - I can't get hold of Dulse or Nori - and nor do I want to - I live up on the wild moor with the sheep and cattle grazing on lush green grass - I just dodge the cow pats in the fields while walking my dogs...who love to chase the rabbits...!!!

...pssst - you surprise me Seraffa  - didn't expect you to be so fluent in Welsh, and yes have absolutely donated my laver/nori/dulse quota to the grazing beasts - funnily enough it doesn't seem to agree with them either - they deposit in huge quantities - rather "loose" for a proper BTD/GTD/Swami approved BM... ;D

I have lost a total of 35 pounds, over a period of 14 years.
That's 10 years on the BTD, and the remaining 4 years were GTD, leading into the SWAMI.  Each successive program prompted more weight loss.

On the BTD, I lost the first 15 pounds and hit a plateau that lasted many years.  
The Genotype diet took off 10 pounds and the SWAMI very quickly melted off the remaining 10 pounds.

Girl!! I am in Menopause!  I want to be free of the hot flashes and the arthritic joint pain!  Do you feel walnuts helped you in that regard or just the overall eating regime?  

BUT to address the question in this thread - 40 lbs in 5 months but it was not just my Swami eating it was a combo of many other things as well - that I speak about in great detail on the Eating Disorders Cure Group Thread.  I still have about 30 to 40 to go but I'm not in a hurry.. I'm NOT focusing on that and becoming obsessed as that was a part of my compulsive overeating disease which I am healing from.  

I like many started with the BTD, then went on to GTD and now I'm doing Swami.  

And Peppermint Twist.. YOU ROCK!!!! Omg!!! such a wonderful example of someone coming up from the trenches to freedom!!!!   xoxoxox

Nothing. I weigh around 13lbs more despite my big concern being weight loss when I went to COE. Which is a bit off from what I needed because I felt like total hell. I'm not all better just yet but I had a discovery that's like getting me to square one for healing over a year later. Funny spending a year and lots of supps to do nothing. I think the impression was I was stress inhibited but I probably have more now so that doesn't make sense.

do you exercise?

Yes. I walk all the time, ride my bicycle, go on some hokes, and deliver cabinets for work or other misc work. Sometimes I take labor jobs like roofing (packing shingles etc).

I use to run a lot and bike a lot years ago. Didn't help much, but I was over doing it. Also I was a dance major after that. Rowing crew at one point. Sadly my body has failed at all the activities.

I am far from convinced that I need to exercise much more than now, but yoga would be nice.
