BTD Forums  /  SWAMI Xpress  /  Is loss of weight common when cleansing?
Posted by: Enobattar, Saturday, September 21, 2013, 1:02am
My reason for asking is because I am not quite 5'6" and I was 117 lbs. when I started seriously following my SWAMI and taking D.D's supplements only... Leaving off taking the Standard Process ones I had been taking for over 3 yrs.

After 12 days on Dr. D's Teacher 3-pack, ARA6, and one Phytocal occasionally if I felt I was getting leg cramps, I came down with a bad case of diarrhea which doctor confirmed was caused by stomach virus.

After the first 3 weeks and having completed doctor's S.P. regimen, there was some improvement.  By this time I had sought this forum's help and was pretty convinced (as I still am) that all of this was brought on because of cleansing.  I also got and began to take Dr. D's Intestinal Health Protocol.  I have entered into week 3 of 4 weeks following his protocol.

Diarrhea has lessened not only in water loss but also frequency.  Although, when I need to go there is still an urgency, just not as much as before.

I've reviewed all of that to ask this question....  Should I be concerned that I now only weigh 106 lbs.?

Up until a couple of days ago, my appetite wasn't 100% and some days I felt fatigued.  These last two days I've been able to eat larger quantities at one sitting.  (I'd like to snack twice daily but find I can't due to the requirements of the protocol to take 2 Deflect between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and dinner.  Then, also,  I have to take one Querciten Plus away from food [which I take a couple hours after dinner and about 1 hour before breakfast].  Finally I take two Polyflora about 10:00 PM and another two upon rising [or any time after 3:00 AM if I'm up to the bathroom.

Trying to be real good about doing everything right.  My DH very concerned about my weight loss, although he is happy that all 3 healthcare professionals I saw could not say anything negative about my health.

Oh, a good side note...  Doc asked to see me again for a check up.  If you've been following my saga, you remember I said he and DH scoffed at me and eating right for my type.  He tested me on all of my old S.P. nutrients that I used to take.  He was more than a little surprised when most of them came up as a zero for a dosage (muscle tested).

However, I was showing that I needed 4 Calcium Lactate and 3 Cataplex D.  To which, I have increased my Polyvite A to 2, 2 x per day, and my Phytocal to 2, 3 x daily to equal what I was shy.  Hoping to get a zero dosage on those 2 at my next checkup.

Again, the question is, can I be hopeful that my weight will return to pre-diarrhea days?

Thank you to any who had the patience and caring to read all of this!

I don't know your health history, so this is a general answer, not a specific one.

Yes, you certainly can have hope that eating right for your type will eventually lead to a "normalizing" of your weight, whether a person needs to lose or gain.  If you are digesting your food well, you can always increase portions.  And you could rearrange your supplement dosing so that you free up one block of time between a couple of meals, so you could have a snack.

It may not be necessary for you to take the number of Deflect you are taking.  Maybe you can try eliminating one dose of them.  Or could you take two before breakfast and the other two between a couple of your meals?

why not stop taking sups and feed yourself right

once your stomach has settled, restart, slow, write a food  and sup log to check results

Good advice.  :)

A person with chronic loose stools will not be absorbing the nutrients very well, and needs the correct foods to heal the body.

I lived with IBS for most of my life and when I started on the BTD, I didn't use any supplements for a couple of years.  It took a while before I felt like my gut could handle anything very well.

Don't want to stop Dr. D's intestinal health protocol since I'm over half way done.  I'll try for now to take one dose of Deflect after the Querciten Plus before breakfast.

My stomach seems to be digesting well meat, grains, cooked veggies, sautéed fruits, and fresh kale and fruit smoothies, also juices if all pulp is removed.  Having no stomach discomfort except more than normal intestinal gas which I read is supposed to be a symptom you experience when cleansing.  Definitely not avoiding my Neutrals, but also not emphasizing them.  I guess the above should be enough to feed me what I need while I heal.

Thanks to both you and Lola.  :)

I never had this before so I don't think it would be called chronic.?  I do eat right.  That is what has started all this cleansing, it appears.  I feel frightened to not take supplements.  Cannot help that.  It is due to my past health experiences.  As long as I am feeling well, otherwise, I feel compelled to continue on as I'm doing.

By the way, my second ever cold sore popped out last week.  Coming along fine.  Also I'm clearing up from a head cold.  Both of which I think is part of my cleansing.  First ever cold sore appeared last year a short while after starting a stricter compliance to my SWAMI as I sought to alleviate my Reactive arthritis symptoms that appeared in Nov. 2011.

And my arthritic finger is tremendously improved!  I think to credit this intestinal protocol of Dr. D's for that; particularly the Deflect for scrubbing the insides of my intestines to rid me of accumulated gunk, thereby slowly closing up my leaky gut.

Life is good.  :)
