Hello, this is my first post as I just signed up yesterday.
I am a O  non- secretor and have a question.
I am suppose to avoid oats but what about the new gluten free oats on the market can they be eaten?
Anyone know?

Gluten free oats are great for somebody with severe gluten sensitivity or Celiac Disease who can otherwise eat oats. They're not OK for O nonnies, since there's something in the oat itself that our bodies don't tolerate; it's not just a problem of gluten contamination from the field or in processing.

I was wondering because oats  are something I like and if I could add them back, that would be nice. :)

Well, they ARE beneficial for Gatherers according to the GTD book. If you decide to go with GTD rather than BTD, then you can eat oats. Although you may not do well with them- I'm an O nonnie gatherer and oats are an "avoid" on my SWAMI. (That doesn't mean that oats would be an avoid on YOUR SWAMI as we're different individuals.)

I don't know whether I'm a nonnie, but I do know that oats cause bloating in me, but I can tolerate oat bran fairly well.

One thing I've learned on this diet is to focus on all the wonderful things that I CAN have and don't lament on the things I can't.  I'm an O Nonnie Hunter which I think is as far on the "paleo" diet scale as you get.  Essentially, all dairy and nearly all grains (including oats) are incompatible, but you can essentially eat all the meat you like, and a lot of fruits and veggies.  I've learned to like quinoa, brown rice, and black beans and cook them with meat.  I eat a lot of bananas too as they are a great snack during the day and are highly beneficial for O Nons.  If after doing the genotype anlayis on yourself you find that you're a gatherer or explorer then you might have more flexibility with the carbs.  When you're ready, you may consider purchasing the SWAMI software which gives you a diet uniquely calibrated for both your blood type and genotype.  I found that to be very helpful to me.  Good luck to you and I hope this was helpful.  ;)

It takes a bit of getting used to the difference in taste/texture, but quinoa makes a very good porridge.  You need to use quite a bit more liquid than if you were cooking it to eat "as a grain" and cook it longer so it becomes creamy and porridge-like.  I use at least half milk during the cooking process.  Sometimes I use soy milk and sometimes almond milk, depending on which kind we have in the refrigerator. There are other kinds of non dairy milk depending on what is on your own food list.

Personally, we also prefer it with fruit added.  I add some (less than 1/4 cup) compliant dry fruit chopped fine early in the cooking process and then fresh or frozen blueberries at the very end.  Then we top it with chopped almonds for even more protein.  And - if you can have any sweetener, top the bowl with a very small amount.  We use maple syrup because it is fine for our A nonnie blood type.  

We do NOT eat porridge more than twice a month.  We concentrate on higher protein breakfasts - and we are both A.  

O's need even fewer grain type things and more meat type things.  However, all of the O's I know feel they will just die from a broken heart if they can't have at least grain-like food such as quinoa.  (think)

I won't "ie from a broken heart" without rice or quinoa, but I also won't feel very full and I'd probably have trouble falling asleep. I need one or two servings of grains per day or I'm just not satisfied.
