I've been adjusting my SWAMI diet (going on 3+ years now) more along the lines of Ray Peat's philosophy. I must honestly say, my energy is a LOT better and my libido (which has been lacking) is better as well.

One of the things Dr. Peat avoids is cod liver oil. Has anyone experienced negative effects from CLO?

While I don't think I have ever taken or used CLO, here is a page talking about benefits and potential risks of it...

I do not regularly take cod liver oil but never experienced any problem with it when I have taken it.

I trust Dr D on this one. It's an avoid on my SWAMI so I don't take it. Meanwhile, it's neutral for Bs, and beneficial for Nomads (I suspect my son is a Nomad) so I give it to him. He seems to benefit from the DHA (with better concentration) and from the vitamins A and D (with better resistance to infections and faster healing time.) For him it's clearly beneficial. For me it's not. My daughters don't take it either.

Ray Peat is just a former body builder he knows very little about nutrition imo.

Like he says that there is no such thing as essential fatty acids. Well, yes there are.
He also says we wouldn’t need vitamin E if we didn’t eat any polyunsaturated fats-but after all there is some polyunsaturated fat in lots of food.

It sounds like he's figured out what works for himself, and is advocating that everybody eat the same way. That would mean that some people would really benefit from his advice (those who are biochemically similar to him) and others won't benefit nearly as much (those who are biochemically different from him.) Anybody on a REALLY poor diet would benefit from any advice that has them eating more "real food" and fewer processed foods.

I wonder what his blood type is.

No. He specifically mentions the polyunsaturated fatty acid. Not other fats.

No. In fact, he recommends vitamin E as an anti-estrogen.

True. And I don't follow his diet 100%.

But I've applied many of his principles and found a lot of benefit metabolically. My fertility is also better.
