Hello all.   I'm new to the forum. I hope this isn't a repeat question.   I am blood type Ob, I'm diabetic and a non-secretor.   I'm looking for a good list of foods.  There are lists for Ob and lists for diabetic O,s and B,s including secretor status but I haven't seen one for Ob with secretor status especially one for diabetics.   Has anyone seen one?

I don't understand your question.  As I know blood typing, if you have an O and B allele, you would be blood type B, so you would use that food list - from the Diabetes book if you have it...

Have you been typed using an Eldon card or by giving blood?  This will tell you what type to follow for the purposes of this diet plan.

Thanks for the quick reply.  My blood type is from giving blood.  From reading the standard blood type diet book, I am blood type O subtype type b.    This book gives a food list for the Ob combination.  I also have the Diabetic version which lists food for the individual blood types with secretor status, but it doesn't discuss the subtype complications.

Is "The Standard Blood Type Diet" book you reference written by Dr. James D'Adamo.  If so, it is not in total agreement with what Dr. Peter D'Adamo writes, so many on this site (including me) won't know details about that plan.  Dr. Peter D'Adamo doesn't include the subtypes that his father did, so his works will not reflect that information.

You are correct, I'm talking about the book by James.  So I'm wondering if Peter doesn't agree with the subtype theory.  Using the questions in the book I am Ob. What I found interesting is that if I read the personalities of both O and B I am definitely a mix, which makes me wonder if I should use the Ob food groups.  That would be easy if I also weren't diabetic and a nonnie.  Very confused about what the right approach should be for me. I have struggled for years with eating healthy and still having high cholesterol and especially high triglycerides and have suspected that my body just isn't processing the good oils, etc properly, and according to the BTD I've been eating the wrong things for my blood type and secretor status.  It's beginning to make sense now except that it gets complicated having to factor in being diabetic and a nonnie.  I'm willing to try anything, just struggling with what direction to head.  I appreciate your replies today.  Will check out the latest books

You cannot really follow the book "Just an Ounce of Prevention" and the Blood Type Diet by Peter D'Adamo at the same time.

You need to decide which you are going to follow.  Some foods are rated the same but others differently.  In my case Jame's diet is close to the diet that I get using Peter D'Adamo's SWAMI program. But this is not true for other people.

There is a separate site that carries on with James D'Adamo's work if you want to follow.

I do not ordinarily discuss James D'Adamo's diet on this site, because the differences between the two confuse people and this site is dedicated to supporting the diet plans of Peter D'Adamo..

Much simpler to stick with one or the other.

Thanks much!   Confusing indeed.  Didn't realize that I was getting different authors when I downloaded the books.  I download Diabetes and BTD for me and then Maximize Your Health with the BTD for my husband and kids.   Didn't realize that I would be causing myself so much confusion.  :)

You can't combine two different books, especially by  two different authors.  They have the same last name because Dr James D'Adamo was the father of Dr Peter James D'Adamo. Dr James laid the foundation for individualized eating, but then Dr Peter took it in a different direction than Dr James did. Since Dr James is no longer alive, you can't see him as a patient, nor will he be publishing any further books to help you refine his diet further.

You're certainly welcome to apply Dr James' diet on your own, with whatever tweaks you think it needs to make it work better for your specific situation. However, Dr Peter has already worked out what diabetic Os should eat, and wrote a whole book about applying BTD for diabetics. You also may benefit from The Genotype Diet (GTD, the paperback version is called "Change Your Genetic Destiny.) Gatherers can be either type O or B, and are prone to diabetes and obesity. The Gatherer diet really needs no adjustment for diabetics. Since you're an "OB" in Dr James' system, you may end up being a Gatherer in Dr Peter's system. Of course, Os could also be Hunters or Explorers too, and that can shift the food choices quite a bit.

The most advanced diet is SWAMI, a computer program written by Dr Peter D'Adamo that calculates a diet just for you based on data you input. It's the best choice for anybody who has multiple health issues, chronic issues that weren't clearing up on BTD or GTD "by the book" or who just wants to optimize their diets. However, it's also the most expensive option and not everybody *needs* that level of personalization. You may do just fine on the Diabetes book.

I ordered "Change Your Genetic Destiny" several days ago and am looking to its arrival.  :-)  Will most likely buy SWAMI after that.
