BTD Forums  /  Eat Right 4 Your Type  /  Aloe juice substitute for a B

My father is also a B. He has a hiatal hernia and diverticulitis, with all the misery associated with those conditions. He has benefited lately from drinking aloe juice (less burning and pain, more regular BMs). Despite its status as "avoid" for Bs, it's clearly helping him.

What I'd like to know is, what is it in aloe juice that imparts this soothing property, and what could he use instead to get the same benefit without the cost associated with the aloe lectin? Thanks!

Avoiding some foods that aggravate those conditions would be good. Some examples are things that will stick in and bother the diverticula, such as small seeds.

Maybe encapsulated slippery elm or marshmallow root powder with plenty of liquid.

Thanks! I actually have some marshmallow root caps I'm not using. Maybe I could send them to him.
