Hi, I am an O Explorer as long as I follow the beneficial foods and avoid the avoids can I follow a more vegan type diet?  It is just what feels right to me. Yet I definitely have issues with the foods he mentions as avoids. Thanks for any thoughts or personal experiences

Type O is supposed to get some animal protein irrespective of GenoType. If you are following the Exlporer diet then should use those guidelines.

However, you can do whatever you want. Including following the Warrior diet. It just isn't suggested.

Explorers as a genotype do best with some regular meat in the diet, including red meats.

Dr. D. has said that some type O people "feel" better following vegetarian lifestyle for a while, but then it starts stressing the body and can cause major illnesses.  It is probably better to get regular portions of meat and fish to keep from getting into a stressful state.

I'm AB and even I have to eat red meat and seafood to maintain good health.

I have an O aquaintance who is a Buddhist diabetic on insulin and refuses to try BTD for O because of her religious beliefs. Well - she developed seizure disorder 20 years ago and now the brain tumor she found in her head is growing also! I have seen her go to the grocery store with me and not only buy a bunch of fruit but suddenly devour a tray of cupcakes when she gets back into the car with me. How it makes her feel better, I am not sure.

"I'll be ok - all I have to do is take another shot of insulin. It won't matter."

I'm sure whoever our God is, (he) did not wish us to overcome nature by FIGHTING against our blood types. Fasting (abstaining from foods, yes) but not FIGHTING against the very substance (he) gave us.

I have tried to do lacto-pescarianism at certain times of the year but I can never get beyond 3 days of it anymore on my SWAMI. If I don't heal my body the neolithic Explorer way, I can't be fit for service to the rest of the human kind or to the animal kingdom with any surety.

What Dr. D. has discovered for us prevents disease, no matter what angle you observe it from. The other % of my SWAMI is Warrior and Teacher - these are 2 choices of what I could have been en vitro if my mother's pregnancy hadn't taken a couple of bad turns. I have tried doing Warrior style with my SWAMI foods at selected times of the year. But it just does't turn out right at all. After 3 days my metabolism is bad. My higher % is and always will be Explorer.

Please don't do the Warrior thing especially if you are an O. (You will notice, I am an A!) The bloodtype is willing, but cannot pit itself against the genotype. (The plant protien used for A vegetarianism either comes from molecular structures my Explorer gut is not designed to process, or, invariably, increases my risk of candida overgrowth, and opens the way up again for many Explorer allergic reactions and autimmune illness. )

believe systems can't overcome our genetic downline....;) ;D... I need my animal proteins as well ....(cool)LOL(shrug)(drool)

"More vegan" sounds to me like someone currently is not vegan but would like to be vegan some of the time.  In which case Explorer is probably the best GT for that.  There are a nice assortment of beneficial legumes, seeds and nuts.  Soy and wheat are still avoids, though, maybe even chickpeas.  So you'll have to make your own hummus (from black beans or adzuki beans).  Sunshine burgers should be okay, but most packaged vegan products won't be.  Good luck!

What exactly do you mean by "more vegan"? If you want to eat smaller portions of animal proteins, and have a few vegan meals per week, you may do just fine. Your body may need far less meat than mine does, even though we're both Os.

But completely avoiding all animal foods is likely to be harmful in the long term. A vegan diet may be good in the short term (maybe even as long as a few months) as a sort of "fast" from eating a truly awful diet in the past. But after those few months, you need to add in animal protein to maintain health.

If your concerns are ethical, take a look at humanely sourced meat, fish, poultry, dairy, and eggs. You don't have to eat meat from factory farms- you can buy from small farmers who treat their animals well. It's a little more work to locate this kind of meat, and in some cases it's more expensive, but it DOES exist if you know to look for it.
