BTD Forums  /  SWAMI Xpress  /  "Caffeine Sensitivity" for SWAMI?
Posted by: Energee, Monday, June 24, 2013, 5:19pm
Hello All, I'm new here.  Only been following the BTD for about a month and very intrigued and excited.  I go "all-in" when I do something, so I went ahead and ran a SWAMI so I could get a more tailored diet.  The only thing I'm not sure about on the SWAMI was the caffeine sensitivity question.

I would say that I am affected by coffee like any other person is.  I love to have it in the morning and it wakes me up.  However, I've never considered myself sensitive to it.  I used to have an afternoon latte at 2:00 and it never interfered with my sleep, but I've never had coffee late in the evening so I'm not sure if it would keep me up.  Does anyone have a better idea of how to answer this question?  I want to make sure my SWAMI is tailored specifically to me.  Thanks!

Oh, and I put on my avatar that I am A1 Rh neg, secretor.  I know that I'm type A negative and a secretor, but I don't know about A1 or A2.  Does that require a separate test?

welcome!

the A1/ A2 status can be obtained through a serotyping panel at the red cross or reputable lab.......

ask your doctor

I would leave the coffee question as "No."

The A1/A2 is a separate test.  Unfortunately, I have no information to help you find one.

Welcome energee,

Most people know right away if they are coffee sensitive, but if you're unsure you should drink a cup of coffee or caffeinated tea about 2 hours before you go to bed and see if it interferes with a good nights sleep; but don't choose a night before a day that will be long or demanding in case it does interfere with your sleep (hopefully you can do it tonight just to get it over with).

I personally wouldn't guess and would want to know for sure. Caffeine sensitivity is an explorer characteristics and when you run your SWAMI you want it to be as accurate and thorough as possible to give you the best individualized diet.

By the way, not everyone knows their Meyers-Briggs personality profile and in my case it meant the difference between SWAMI changing my genotype from warrior to teacher. I've seen a few different versions of the test so pick the one that you prefer most.

I would say "no" to caffeine sensitive if you can have one in the early afternoon without it affecting your sleep. There are people who get all jittery from one cup in the morning and that will keep them awake.

Thanks everyone for the comments.  I will also look into the MB test.

Hi Energee - Welcome! If I remember correctly, in the questionnaire section of SWAMI where it asks for your Meyers-Briggs, there is a drop down quiz you can take to determine your score. I got a slightly different score each time I tried it, so I took it several times over a period of about two weeks, and I did have a score that was consistant about half of the times I tried. So that's what I went with  :)

Once you arrive at a score, you can search that score on Google, or whatever, and read through the profile to see if you think it fits you. When you find the right one you'll know  :D

In the early books Dr D was in favor of A's drinking coffee.. if you do not get headaches when NOT drinking caffeine, or get jittery, or get easily upset and nervous, then you are not caffeine sensitive.  If you where, I think, you would know it..

Why not run Swami both ways and see what changes.. That is the nice part about Swami.. its easy and changes can be a click away..

I thought A's need caffeine to digest food? two cups a day?

Thanks all.  I did run the SWAMI the other way around and the only thing it changed was taking coffee from an avoid to a diamond!  Good thing for me, because I love coffee  ;D

Caffeine sensitivity is a locked field, to change it you would have to email support.

Yes, that's what I did.  They changed it pretty quickly for me.

Welcome.

Have you read the Genotype book?  It will help with understanding a SWAMI a bit more.  Great info in there.

And all I have to say about the caffeine is "LUCKY".   ;D ;)

I'm the opposite.  But when I was 33 I was like you.  Didn't seem to bother me.
