Hi

I have swami and I also have the ERFYT book, I have been on and off for a quite few years now, I find there is so much to learn and I get very confussed and I think this is my reason I dont stick to it 100% although over these years I have always used the knowledge I have learnt as a guide with food choices.

Would you recommend buying any of the other books, would this help me learn more or confuse me more, as I have swami are the other books really relevant ?

I would like to understand everything a lot more.

Been in Western Australia there are no practitioners that I can see.

If you are trying to understand the logic of SWAMI, the GenoType Diet book is helpful.

I agree with this.

also is there anything that is particularly relevant to you like if you have arthritis then get the arthritis book.

personally i have bought all of Dr D's Books and would happily recommend them all to everyone.

I would read Live Right... to understand the reasoning behind some of the foods.. BUT the book is most worth it for new people..

For you ... let me say, following Swami 100% is not a good thing.. unless you add a lot of Neutrals.  If you are eating in your house all the Beneficials then eating out allows you to cheat some.   We are all very hard on our self and wish to accomplish more then is possoble in a short time. cheating a few % is ok.

If you have family, see who is closest to your own health issues.  Genetically I was surprised to be like my father, I thought more about mom at first, but over the years I learned that its my Fathers genes, the smile twitch we both shared is more dominant. So not moms side cancers but dads side diabetes and heart issues...

Accepting that is what took me a decade.  I did not wish to have a label.. I fought back by doing BTD and I won to a large extend.  But in the end maybe staying on the diabetes book diet might be better even over Swami.   Swami talks less about what .. like:  the diabetes book recommends Turkey, a whole Mind blowing change from meat.  Yet I think for the tryglicerides it might actually be better for me  ::)??)

So by comparison I think getting the book that is closest to your future would be another book to read.. those books are very quick to read.. only a few pages...

I found the Geno book to be least helpful.. to understand all the ins and outs,, it is better to have read the other books - first... Yet, in the end it comes down less to understanding --- just follow Swami.  NON of the books give us all the answers. I have all books. I refere to all, for different reasons.. I think people with just the Geno book and are NOT on this board, will never be as devoted as those who read the early books.. If you can get them in a library or second hand .. look for them.. or BUY the books by heart, diabetes, cancer, aging condition.

It is not A supplement, nor is it about A sentence, yet each book has one or two words that have meaning.  In the end you are best served to stay here and chat.. and live life ... as it presents itself.. and learn... I learn even after 20 years.. I cheat some but I never leave BTD as a way of life.

For me the oil (fat) question came to light by accident) in another book which is helping me to drop weight more easy.  I struggled trying to figure it out and then the lightbulb went on, and finally I can take the oil and heal my insides.. so you never know where knowledge comes from.. hanging in here asking questions or answering some of them - always teaches both people.  Good luck..  8)

Even though I follow my SWAMI (100% )  I still value all the other books, and own nearly all of them.  The ones I don't have are books that I have lent out and haven't gotten back.

LR4YT is such a wonderful book for understanding about your blood type and Genotype is a good book for understanding the basics on what the genotypes are all about.  Also the supplement and lifestyle recommendations are good to know.  But you can still use your personal SWAMI to tell you what to eat.

If you can borrow the books from a public library, I'd suggest reading all of them in order of publication date (though you can skip the "health series" books that don't apply to you.) If (paperback version is called Change Your Genetic Destiny) you need to purchase the books to be able to read them, I'd suggest the Genotype Diet for sure (it gives lots of background info on how SWAMI works) and possibly either Live Right or the Encyclopedia- both give lots of info about secretor status, which is absent from Eat Right.

There's a ton of information available on this website, and linked from this site to Dr D's blogs. I'm not sure if the website covers everything in the books or not.

If you're having a particular health issue check out Dr. D's "Fight It With BTD" series.  If you have inflammation or fibromyalgia, for example, the Arthritis book is for you!
