I have made a few alterations and my swami has changed from Teacher to Warrior, little disappointed as chicken and cabbage are both avoids now :( I feel its even more restricted.  Also coconut oil has gone from a superfood to an avoid :(

I was just making my own fermented sauerkraut so looks like that's out too.

Is it common to change from one type to another.

I have also been looking into Body Ecology Diet to help heal my gut as a lot of my superfood and beneficial I have intolerances to.  I am hoping to be able to take some good info from BED and continue eating superfoods, beneficial foods and neutrals.

Off to read more on Warrior :)

What changes to SWAMI did you both make?

DoS mentioned he can only taste the prop strips & I had used the PCT ones which I can't taste at all so I tried  prop strips & I could taste them slightly. I remeasured my leg/torso ratio & am just longer in the torso.  But the "slight taster" was the decider.

I had followed my Swamied Gatherer program for 2 years and then after reading a few things on the threads, I checked off 2 more things and it changed me to an Explorer.  A lot of similarities, but it did change some of my regular beneficials to avoids.  I'm still trying to remember the changes.  I often catch myself reaching for something in the grocery store and then having to reach for the list I keep in my purse to be sure of what category it sits in.

Give it some time and you may be surprised at the results.

I only changed lactose intol, I don't think I am lactose intolerant.

When diagnosed with Coeliac disease I had trouble tolerating dairy but after years of eating gluten free and repairing the lining of my intestines lactose doesn't bother me, I can eat yoghurt and cheese with no problems.  Yoghurt has now become a beneficial :) chicken has a black dot.  I will also really miss coconut oil :(

My leg ratio is Teacher characteristics and I have a few other but the lactose made a big difference.

What are the taste strips ?

How have you been going serenity?

Paper saturated with a chemical to determine your taster status.

In Australia, order strips from:

Yes, this happened to me when I changed my ferritin from normal to low.  I was a Teacher and became an Explorer.  I have also spoken to a few of my customers and they also had the same experience. The main thing that I recommend you do is check that all your measurements are correct, check and triple check, and that all the info you have put in is spot on.  Do you know what your secretor status is?  If you're interested, take a look at our website under testing kits http://www.right4yourtypeau.com as this could be very helpful and in my opinion knowing your secretor status is a very important part of the Genotype diet if you can manage to get this done.

Kiwi, I should have come to see you when I was in NZ a few months ago for a professional consultation, I am sure you could have set me straight!
I am not sure if this is a glitch on my swami but I enter ecto in the personal details & it changes it to "meso or meso-ecto is characteristic of teacher" in the second pass as if entered it :-/ I might email support.....

Lisa, I am doing very well, the weather is beautiful at the moment with bright clear skies, its chilly in the morning but no wind which is nice. My diet feels right for now, I had bloating for so long it was disturbing but I think it is quite settled now with the added olive oil at every meal (just hope i don't gain weight!).  I love the teacher cheeses & having more serves of fish which feels right for me at the moment.  I haven't tried coconut oil which is now a diamond, well only on my skin!  I love weight training & a little jogging on the beach makes me feel energised. I detest cold water at all times as a teacher i am supposed to try to get used to it  :o
Winter of course means less raw food & I feel good with bean based soups & less raw leafy for some weird reason.
How about you Lisa, do your changes suit you?

I have only just changed and I must admit I have only been 80% compliant but I have found it easier to make the right choices.  I have seen a good naturopath who has put me on some supplements and I haven't felt this good for a while,

I have read A's can do quite well on the body ecology diet as I have systemic candida & dysbiosis, so I have been reading into that diet quite a bit and Donna Gates does give a bit of credit to the ERFYT type so I am hoping to incorporate both quite easily :) so far it looks like I can.  I am not tolerating grains at all even allowed/beneficial grains or a lot of fruits.  I have an issue with Salicylates.   So I think it will be lots of  veggies and seafood and adding in fermented veg and yoghurts which is now a superfood for me.

I backed off from all the exercise as the others in the teachers lounge recommended but I have been walking and yoga once a week need to fit in more yoga.

I will look into the taster strips, I will be asking my GP for the Lewis test next visit, I think someone told me that your GP can do that? is there any other tests you can get from GP.  I still don't know my secretor status but hopefully Lewis can give me some ideas.

Glad to hear your doing well :)

I asked a few GPs & called every pathology lab here in victoria & no one does the test now (some had no idea what a Lewis or secretor test was!). I did hear QML may do the testing but I am not sure where you are.
I will check out the book you have recommended for ideas on clearing out candida, I think I need to look at why my ears are blocked, have itchy skin & get hayfever in spring!  I don't eat as much fruit and no dried fruit now I am enjoying my soups & fish so maybe that will help clear out candida before spring?
Even though swami changed my type to teacher I still have a "reactive" worldview,  must be due to my allergic responses to various things.

Hi Serenity,
I am a teacher with a reactive world view on my swami also.(I have several explorer traits)
My only real health issue came about 6 years ago...severe nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis which included itchy/blocked ears, tinnitus, mucous/phlegm and eventually adult onset asthma! :(
I have had a total of 3 sinus surgeries, the latest one this past April will hopefully be my last. My ENT doctor and my Allergist doctor agreed that I fit into the "Samter's triad" or AERD..aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease. One must have 3 conditions : nasal polyps, adult onset asthma, aspirin allergy/sensitivity
After my surgery I spent one day in the allergist's office while they "desensitized" me to aspirin. This has been the most successful treatment for AERD.
I now must take 400-500 mg of aspirin daily to keep the polyps away. My check-ups have been great so far but I am still experiencing some asthma. :-/

I am wishing you good luck on your journey and know that when you find your secretor status it will be helpful! ;)

Hi Ladies

Sorry if this is a silly question but what does reactive world view mean ?

Hi Serenity, I have found been an A blood type that the body ecololgy diet is quite easy to incorporate into my Swami, Donna Gates is actually an A blood type and she does recommend eating for your type although has a few discrepancies.  The body ecology diet has a website check it out.  I wouldn't be doing the body ecology diet if I didn't believe I suffer from leaky gut, dysbiosis or Candida.  Due to these issues I have more food intolerances and its just getting worse not better and I cannot tolerate a lot of my allowed/beneficial foods.  Hoping that BED will be healing and getting my gut flora good so I can eat more of my swami beneficial / allowed foods.

Hi Cajun,
Well that is interesting, I had never had hayfever before (i have lived here in melbourne, the "allergy" city of the world" for eight years) & five years ago suddenly felt very off for about a week with congestive headache, complete lethargy & couldn't sleep because i sneezed day and night. No sucess with any sorts of remedies from naturopath/therapist friends, the respiratory protocol (quercetin plus, collinsonia etc)& of course complete compliance.  I am rarely sick for more than a day (except with tonsilitis or ear infections as a kid) so I finally gave in and went to a GP... Her diagnosis was hay fever & perhaps the severity was due to nasal polyps!

I did some research. The same time I developed hayfever was the first year the CSIRO started mass trials on GMO canola in northern victoria and south australia (northern & westerly winds kill me) Since this discovery my husband found out someone at work had to help move her mother from the country area due to illness every spring when the fields are blooming with the canola flowers!

It could be a coincidence, it might be due to the masses of extra pollen being blown in or could be i am allergic to whatever the modifications are... I have taken a few aspirins over the years and haven't had an allergic reaction (but maybe one or two in several years isn't enough to react to) would a skin test or kinesiology determine this sort of allergy?

I have had both saliva and a blood secretor test but the results were different, I figure I would get another test & go for 2 out of 3. I would like a local test as i have had to send samples internationally both times so who knows if heat or other factors could have skewed the results :-/

I didn't mean to hijack this thread & sorry for the lengthy description but you have given me a new direction! I am going to find an ENT specialist to see if I do have polyps, & get allergy tests done, thank you for your suggestions :K)

Hi Serenity, I would take the secretor test as being correct over the lewis system test.  It is a more accurate way of finding out your actual secretor status.  Yes, you're right it's impossible to find a lab that does the test both here in N.Z. and in AU:(  In my opinion, the secretor test done by the lab Dr D'Adamo uses would be the best chose as they will give you an accurate result, having done many many tests.

Serenity,
Wow! Another person with polyps! And...wind is my enemy!!! I live in the high desert country of southern California...very arid/windy/3500 ft. elevation. We have something blooming year round all over this area...many wildflowers/herbage/cacti and the wind carries the molds/pollens/dust(from the sandy ground)swirling everywhere! :P
Also, I did not knowthat I was allergic to aspirin either as I never took any...but one night I woke up with a pain in my left arm... ;) so...I took a baby aspirin..80 mg..within 15 minutes my nose started running, actually pouring like waterworks and I sneezed my head off!!!! So, I told my ENT and my allergist and they both agreed I had AERD.  ??) My ENT is located about an hours drive south of me in the inland OC/LA Basin. He said he sees more cases similar to mine than even he can believe!!! :o  I don't know but I'm thinking crazy pollution/toxins, etc. and the wind pattern blows from down there straight up to my area! ::)
I agree with Kiwi...get your spit secretor test done, see an eNt and tell us what the outlook is!!?? Please? ;) Good luck!

I had the RAST test & it seems I have multiple allergies :-/
Severe allergies to grasses and trees such as maleluka, eucalypt, acacia, willow & olive.  I am yet to see if this means olive oil is out for me.
Also some nuts, legumes & strangely sesame seeds (only .4% of the population is allergic to this in aust)
I am just so confused.  Next I have to get the referral to see a specialist for their opinion on desensitizing & to my naturopath friends for their opinions too.   We are heading into an early spring so I need to get on top of this.

People who are allergic to olive pollen generally do not have any problem with olive oil.

For me the best thing to use for the pollen is Urtica dioica leaf. Australia has several other plants in the nettle family, but it is Urtica dioica that works for me.

Serenity,
So sorry to hear about all the allergies! :P :-/
Yes, get to the naturopath and keep on top of it! I will be thinking of you and wishing you well!!! ;)
My aspirin desensitization has worked well so far!(pray) My latest check-up showed NO POLYPS!!!!!! :D

Wonderful news Cajun!

Thanks Csharp, that makes sense but my tree allergy is high so even a small amount may cause a reaction.  I have Urtica urens in leaf form for tea & homoeopathic potency for hives so I will use that in acute for itchy eyes.
Cajun, the test showed a high allergic reaction to the willow tree so i guess i would react to something like aspirin made from it.
I have ordered all the pollens and grasses i am allergic to in 9C & 15C homoeopathic potency & histaminum in 9C and will follow Brauers protocol for desensitizing before spring.  I hope to avoid the four months if agony this year.  My naturopath can do muscle testing to tell me which strength & for how long to use each.
I am not reactive to animals or moulds so I am very grateful for that :)

Serenity,
It sounds like you are getting ready for battle!!! :o
Aspirin is the only thing I am allergic to....other things like mold, wind, dust, smoke are sensitivities. That is why I had to sit in my allergist's office for one whole workday as they started me out with 25 g of aspirin. After 1/2 hour they would give me a breathing test then give me 25-50 more grams ...repeat until they took me up over 1000 grams...just to be sure!
At 350 grams I began to show allergic reactions....so they gave me albuterol, waited then continued.
I take 487 grams of regular aspirin daily now to keep the polyps away. So far, so good. My polyp removal surgery was in April and I was desensitized to aspirin in May.
Now, the catch...if I miss taking the daily aspirin by 3 days...I need to repeat this whole process all over again! :-/
I will be rechecked in 2 weeks but right now, no polyps...YAY!!!! 8)
