Is it possible for an A+ to heal the gut on Gaps diet and incorporate the blood type diet or swami?

I have multiple food intolerancs and this includes intolerances to many of my beneficials and allowed foods.

I have been doing so much reading and very overwhelmed.

I would like to try and help you feel less overwhelmed.. I would think it's in your best interest to try and do just one diet because to complicate this with a GAPS diet (which I know nothing about)
might be the reason you're feeling overwhelmed.

I totally agree with Lola....to go back to the basics.....but if you'd like to discuss this further....if
you could just share some more information, I'm sure many experienced people will come forward to offer suggestions.

I'd like to ask you few questions and perhaps others could chime in once we know more about
you.  Could you possibly be an Explorer?  Who measured you and are you certain everything you
entered into SWAMI is 100% accurate?  Would Explorer come up as your diet if you changed a few
answers?  Asking because this will happen with some people.....very close between an Explorer
or another genotype and sometimes changing one value changes a person's genotype.

What are the foods you're negatively reacting to?  And exactly what are your reactions?  Gut?
respiratory?  Many foods sometimes give me problems but what I did at first was leave them out,
only eating the foods that weren't giving me problems....and then when I felt more balanced, I
tried one offending food at a time.  I have to still do this with eggs, dairy and sometimes soy.....although for sensitive people, no offending foods should be eaten every day or many times during the day until your gut is fully healed.

It's likely that all your issues are from old lectin damage....and that your body is throwing off a lot
of toxicity.  Drinking a lot of water, getting adequate exercise....avoiding toxins and eating as many
beneficial foods as you can tolerate.  A lot of veggies and plant foods are cleansing.

You can try taking Deflect or Intrinsa/Gastro D for awhile until you feel your gut has healed....but
for old lectin damage, this takes diligence, high compliancy and patience.

How compliant have you been and are you following the Teacher's diet or the basic A diet?

So many foods on the SWAMI list -- what things can you eat? Let us know and I am sure we can come up with creative ways to help.


As for the food intolerances might clear up the more you focus on the super foods.  

What are the symptoms of the food intolerances?

A few of the IFHI practitioners are in OZ might want to look one up.

Thank you so much for replies.  I did my messurements myself and dont feel 100% confident.  I also ticked lactose  intol because I dont do well on dairy but I may not be lactose intolerant.   Which I belive  is a teacher trait.  I need to get back on swami and double and triple check everything.  I cant get on my computer this week just accessing internet on my phone.  As soon as I get bavk on my computer I will check again.  I also dont kjow secretor status and cant find anyone in western australia who can test.  I am going to ask my doc to check lewis blood test.
I was diagnosed coeliac and have been strict gluten free for 4yrs.  My swami foods I cant tolerate are mainly salicylate foods like broccoli,  apples, kiwi, currents, dates, plumbs, tumeric, ginger, green tea, asparagus, cauliflower, also soy, brown rice, and all nuts and beans and lentils.. my list could just keep going.  
I have also had muscle kinesiology and other machine tests from naturopaths.  
I started off with blood type and went to swami but have struggled to stick to it because as I eat my benificial/allowed foods I feel worse even after a few weeks i seem to get worse not better because I am eating foods listed above. I just dont know what to eat.  And bananas which are an avoid  I feel really good eating.
I was seeing a good naturopath who was the one who recommended blood type diet has left the country and I havent found one I liked as much.  
I am seeing a new Naturopath next week and hoping he can help and advise.  
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry forgot to mention I suffer bad diarrhea when I eat foods above and constipation At other times.  I also suffer anxiety which has only started since the food intolerance issues started.  My old naturopath put me on pre and probiotics plus digestive enzymes.   Plusls a B complex.

I have also been told my underlying issue is my pancreas secretions.

Do or have you taken any Pancreatic Enzymes (Amylase, Lipase, Protease)?

When my pancreas was not functioning well, I took a bunch and it cleared up some of the digestive issues...

Foods Recommended by Blood Type Diet?

Foods rated differently for secretor and nonsecretor?

Foods recommeded by SWAMI?

Foods high/low in salicylatee.

Yes I am taking bio ceuticals multigest enzymes (amylase protease lipase tilactase cellulase and bromelains)

I am thinking of a healing broth with my allowed /  benificals :)

I deep down believe eating for my blood type is best for me.  If I can heal my gut so I can tolerate my beneficials and allowed foods I believe I will be on my way.

The kinesioligist used vials and wrote down all foods i tested negitave against and my naturopath muscle tested me with foods I took in on every visit.  They results were the same.

Have lots of similar issues. Not to overwhelm, but it is important to avoid and/or rotate intolerant foods. It is important to avoid your BTD lectins to give gut cells a chance to mature. You might want to look into digestive enzymes (plant based), a high quality pancreatic glandular, ox bile if you are haviing issues with fat, glutamine, mercury issues, and magnesium deficiency. You will also want to look up the vitamins and minerals that you may be difficient in because of celiac (gut not doing a good job for a long while). Things for you to research. I am not a medical professional. Just sharing personal experience and information I have come across. More pieces to the puzzle, but something to look at. Sorry I can not be more specific- I do know how overwhelming it can be but it gets better the more pieces of your individualized situation you figure out. Two pieces of food for thought. Magnesium runs 80% of body processes. Mercury depletes magnesium as body detoxes and/or deals with it. Deficiency can be long term chronic and/or acute. My doc said gluten/dairy issues have merc interfering with an enzyme that digests them. He has had people get these foods back.  Merc interferes with a lot of processes in the body. This is why I asked "got merc?" the other day. Sorry to leave you hanging...

You may not relate to any of this. We even have merc in the air here because we have a lot of coal powered plants in the midwest, so exposure is not necessarily just from seafood or fillings. One doc got severely ill from the air in China. Vaccines are another fun source and cause of much controversy.

Many folks that get noticeably ill from merc have some gene sets that have them detoxing a little differently. It's worth looking into those if you have confirmed metals issues. Lead can also be a handful to deal with. Lots of info on the web. If you relate to any of this, finding a doc that has a good grasp on all of this is a Godsend.

There is also "How to restore mag" on that site.

As my mag RBC level increased, my symptoms lessened, including tinnitis and gut issues. As it dropped, they increased. (having to do with Vitamin D supplementation the best I can tell). I can tell now when I have missed some of my magnesium.
70-80% of US is not getting minimum requirements for Magnesium (this correlates with low D as well- D and Mag have a relationship). Supping D without Mag is probably a bad idea... google magnesium and vitamin d.

Wow thank you so much for all that info I will look into.  What is the best way of testing for metals ?   I will definitely look into this.  I know I have low magnesium.  I dont seem to absob oral magnesium so epson baths and magnesium gel are something I have started using recently.

I would suggest you start with the Bt diet or geno diet or better still swami. then adjust that diet if you still have symptoms after a few months.

Thanks I think that is what I will do stick to swami and try eating broths from allowed foods and give it a couplebof months and reassess.  Cant wait to see the naturopath on Friday too.  Was recommended him so fingers crossed hes good.  
Thanks everyone I feel a little better today not so overwhelmed had my crockpot going all day with all allowed and beneficial foods and  now making a broth with the chicken bones and veg )

AussieA+.....can you possibly enlist someone to help in (re)measuring you?   The book explains
it fairly well but the videos are even better.

I made the mistake of following the Warrior diet for 18 months early on, because I too measured myself.....and did so incorrectly.  My husband pointed out that I wasn't putting the measuring tape in the correct place.....and voila....when he did the measuring, I became a Teacher.

I'm not sure it's possible to accurately measure oneself.

I would avoid the BTD lectin foods for a while even if they were highly beneficial on my swami esp if I knew I was a secretor. Do you have secretor test? They have recently switched it to a blood test, I think. If I were really keen on the bananas and a secretor, I might look at some other high potassium food if I could find them. I say this and I am eating potatoes at least once a week temporarily. So it's sometimes a trade off?

I am loving ReMag. Love the transdermal and mag chloride soaks as well, but ReMag is hitting it out of the park for me. Pico Ionic- super, super small.

Intrinsa is also a nice source of mag as well as the beneficial acids.

Broth sounds great. Got to make me some of that! Cooking another turkey soon, I hope (all day type task...) :)

I ordered ReMag last week after reading about it on Dr. Carolyn Dean's website.  Since I had
Lyme disease over 2 decades ago, I've had major issues absorbing magnesium.  No matter how
much I took orally, whether it affected my gut or not, I felt I wasn't absorbing it.  Felt I wasn't
absorbing the transdermal mag either....just made me tired....Muscles were still spasm-ing...  Can't wait to try this formula.  How much do you take?

I have worked up to more started at 1/8 tsp 2x day (am and prior to bed). I am now at 3 caps per day. I missed 2 doses by accident the other day and it was heck to pay. (One before bed and early in morning. Fell asleep before taking and then got going in the morning and time passed.) I am back on track and feel fantastic today, despite extreme emotional stress and working outside (hot!). Need to keep on it, especially with high "burn rate" today. I think the other trace minerals make a big difference. Can't prove anything, just never muscle test for the angstrom bottle that is just mag. I bought it "just in case" I needed to balance out an abundance of something else minor in ReMag. Have been told the trace minerals really are trace and help the mag do what it needs to do. No worries for me on overdoing sulfur (which I have to avoid to some extent right now).

My RBC was 4.4 when all heck broke loose. Been supping a very short time (a week or so, plus hitting mag glycinate and Intrinsa pretty hard and it was up to 5.3. Next blood test results on Tuesday, will be more reflective of ReMag (but it is probably being used other places beside RBC?)

From what I understand the GAPS diet is rather restrictive and is probably a better choice for an O than an A. It's grain and sugar free and low fiber, right?

I would think that "Type A beneficials" would help to heal your gut, and cutting out too many of the beneficial grains and beans might be counter-productive. OTOH, if your gut is in REALLY bad shape, the GAPS diet might be good in the short-term, until you're ready for some of the type A beneficial carbs.

You clearly need to avoid the foods you're allergic or intolerant to, even if they're beneficial on any food list. But if you also find yourself cutting out a lot of foods because "the GAPS diet says to avoid them" even though you have no problem with it, then the GAPS diet may not be a good choice.

What you really need is advice from somebody familiar with both the GAPS diet and the BTD who's also skilled in evaluating your current state of health, to help you put it all together. You almost certainly need supplements to help heal your gut as well, though I have no clue which ones. There's only so much we can do for you online.

Give me a food list, and I can help you figure out recipes and meal plans and other practical advice on implementing this diet. But I'm not a health practitioner and my personal experience is limited to Os and Bs.

Thank you.  I dont I think gaps is for me but I am drinking broth made with allowed chicken and veg for a few days to give my digestion some rest.  I take supplements but not sure if they are right.  I am seeing a naturopath tomorrow to check supplements unfortunately no swami practitioners in Western Australia.   I am hoping he respects the blood type diet.  I probably should have asked butvhe came highly recommended by a few people.
