Hi Everyone! I am new here!!
I recently had a hair analysis done and found that my aluminum and Mercury are high. My doctor originally had me on humifulvate, which caused a terrible reaction. Since then I have found the eat right for your type diet, and started modifying what I eat. The doctor then told me to take Metalloclear instead which is a product that is herbal but its main ingredient is Hops and turmeric. While the Turmeric is on my beneficial list, through other research I discovered that Hops are a big avoid. I am not going to take this supplement either. Is there anything herbal/more natural to help with a type B heavy metal detox?? I did buy some bentonite clay today to try a clay bath, what else can I try that would be safe for my type?

There are a variety of approaches.

Cilantro is often used.

Ground flax seed is used in other approaches.

High sulfur foods are sometime used, such as broccoli, collards, kale, daikon radish, garlic, onions, and eggs.

Herb: milk thistle

Not Herb: Selenium, zinc, n-acetylcysteine, lipoic acid, folate, vitamins B12 and B6

I use cilantro and onion as well as turmeric.  There are probably other things I do that help as well, but I don't always remember why I do some things, as there are overlapping benefits from many foods, etc...

I like Chlorella and Tumeric; and Laminaria seaweed is excellent.

I like chlorella and turmeric as well- and I find it very important to drink plenty of green tea as well.
However it is important not to use too much if any green tea while pregnant since it is very efficient.

I know this one is “very powerful” I would like one too  ;D but now still keep saving every time I get pay put $10 in the jar then within a few month I can buy “Harmonia”  also, every day I eat the food call “ Geno Harmonic foods are unique combinations  in Swami. Only just about 5 months pass I can tell my skin look clean and clear from inside out.  Well..I never get a hair analysis done yet may be I do have Mercury! ::)

Hurry up!! More fresh, healthy green please!

Chlorella

The term "green" substances refer to a category of products defined as containing high levels of chlorophyll, which gives them their color. The best "super green" sources are either marine algae or cereal grasses. Chlorella is fresh water, single-celled algae. It is rich in protein (57- 60%), carotenoids, chlorophyll, RNA-DNA, minerals, B vitamins (huge amounts of vitamin B-12) and vitamin E. Chlorella has abundant amounts of vitamin K, important in blood clotting and is rich in Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). It has been estimated that up to 20% of the EFAs found in Chlorella are of the Omega-3 variety. As with Spirulina, Chlorella is an abundant source of enzymes and antioxidants. Unlike Spirulina, the blue pigment phycocyanin is not present.

Chlorella has strong effects on the immune system and related processing of toxic elements. Chlorella binds well with heavy metals, pesticides and other carcinogens and facilitates their removal from the body.
Chlorophyll

It is important to note that a significant portion of the value of "green foods" is determined by its chlorophyll content. It is believed that chlorophyll, which is responsible for the green pigments in greens, is remarkably similar to hemoglobin found in human blood cells.

Other researchers point to the fact that chlorophyll rich plants are abundant sources of naturally occurring vitamin K. The fat soluble chlorophyll found in green supplements is the ideal way to obtain vitamin K, important in blood clotting, the treatment of osteoporosis, and a protective agent against toxins while undergoing chemotherapy. It is therefore vital that chlorophyll is consumed as part of "green foods" and not in its isolated water soluble form found on many store shelves. Chlorophyll is also a traditional treatment for constipation.

Search for it on the internet...  There are many recipes - all you have to do is to compare the recipe to the food lists and what is available to you...

Pesto

Ingredients
•2 cloves garlic
•2 cups fresh basil leaves or cilantro
•1 cup pine nuts, walnuts or almonds
•½ cup Parmesan cheese
•½ cup olive oil
•Salt

Instructions
1.Drop cloves of garlic into running food processor or blender to mince.
2.Add remaining ingredients and process until smooth. Enjoy!

This Pesto can be mix with steam vegetable such as zucchini, bell pepper, squash, carrot, onion

would give a try to SOD, alpha lipoic acid or the so called *healing mushrooms*  ;) ;D
or the most simple thing here is to use chlorella algue for some weeks !!! :D

Good recipe.  If needed for individual food compliance, grated Romano or grated aged Manchego can be used also.  Probably any other good hard cheese that works with a person's food list would be good.

I would use both cilantro and basil leaves.  :)

I posted this here some time ago.  I would not recommend cilantro.  According to an MD I saw who specializes in Functional Medicine and has built a practice in safely detoxing his patients of heavy metals, cilantro is a very strong detoxifying agent.  However, the bad thing about cilantro is that it can cross the blood-brain barrier, carrying those toxins to the brain.  He strongly recommended I not use cilantro.  Chlorella or other forms of algae are good.  There are several products on the market.  I would also caution you to do your detox under the supervision of someone who knows what they are doing.  Although I was seeing this doctor, he stopped my detox process because my system got overloaded and all methylation shut down.  Obviously, I am someone who needs a gentle detox and although mine was done with natural chelators, I still had some issues.  I am thinking about getting tested again and seeing if I can start up again.

Do you have mercury fillings?  If so, you should not begin your detox process until you have had all your mercury fillings removed.

No, I don't have mercury fillings anymore. I have heard that about the cilantro. I am under the care of a doctor that practices Chinese medicine. She actually told me to eat 1/4 cup of cilantro and parsley a day. I am more sensitive and also need a gentle detox. I ate a couple cilantro leaves this afternoon and then got dizzy. I don't know if I want to continue taking the cilantro or not. I did ask her about the chlorella, but haven't heard back from her yet!! Thanks for the heads up, I have heard that about the cilantro!!

Unbelievable! I heard back from my doctor, first she went on a rant how she doesn't believe in this diet and how I am obsessing over this and have been sucked down the rabbit hole.(Which i felt was totally rude and disrespectful) I totally disagree!! Then she contradicts herself and says that she doesn't believe that cilantro is an effective way to remove metals! I asked her why she told me to take a 1/4 cup of it a day then, then she corrects herself and says its not effective by itself. I don't know the more and more I hear from her the more respect I am loosing for her. She said some pretty cruel things about Dr D and this diet, and referred me to read this other book. I don't get it, I really think that there is something to this diet and apparently all you do too,or you wouldn't be here! I guess we're all a bunch of loons for believing in this diet!!

I would recommend that you see someone who specializes in gentle chelation therapy.  Not sure where you live.  That might be helpful to know so people can refer you.  Good luck!

I don't know whether I believe in this diet or not, but all of us in this house are significantly healthier since we started following it...   ;)   ;D

I know, I just said to my mom yesterday that I really don't think she knows what she's doing! I have lost all faith and respect for her. I'm in Chicago, by the way.
I disagree with what she says about a lot of things. I've called her on things in the past, I don't think she likes that I keep telling her how I think I need to be treated. It's my body, I know better than anyone what or how I'm feeling! She made me very sick about a month ago, telling me to take some other meds, I had concerns about taking it, and questioned the heck out of her, she kept telling me I would be fine, I almost ended up in the hospital!
I just find it very interesting that most of the things on my avoid list are things that I have had issues and sensitivities to, before I ever found out about this diet, I was avoiding most of them anyway! Why I feel that there is something to this diet!

My son takes chlorella whenever he feels like he’s coming down with something.  I give my cats & my boarder’s dog Pet Chlorella whenever they are injured or sick.

In any detox it's really important to make sure that your digestion is working well and not sluggish. If you're not regularly moving your bowels, you can get toxic pretty quickly with no exit points for your heavy metals.
Also, stay away from things like zeolites (made from an aluminium-containing substance) and from crystal deodorants (contain aluminium compound).
Daily dry skin brushing. Also the detox foot pads can be useful. The suggestion of bentonite clay is a good one too, or other kind of skin wrap. Think also about detoxing your life and mind a little - less technology, less stress, less work more rest etc. That will reduce your wastage of precious inner resources and allow your body to focus efforts on detoxing, rather than detoxing plus running around in your normal life doing hundreds of things each day.
If you go for chlorella, be careful where you get it from, they used to make a lot of it in Japan, and as well as absorbing heavy metals it can also absorb some radioactive compounds whilst it's growing so check the source so you're not putting more in than you're trying to take out. The radiation from the aftermath of the 2011 tsunami and nuclear explosion is still pretty huge.
Amino acid glycine can be supplemented as TMG (trimethylglycine) also called betaine hydrochloride. It is the main component of glutathione production that people are low in, increasing your protein in general provides you with most of the building blocks required for glutathione production which is your natural detoxifying substance. Many naturopaths recommend whey protein for this reason - to help with detoxificataion. Glutathione is mostly broken down in the gut, so get it as a cream to put on your skin, or go for the precursors rather than getting glutathione capsules/tablets.

I have never heard of glutathione cream and would love to know what you recommend.  I have been supplementing glutathione with the capsules.
